Bob G. Ladd, 82, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Baptist East Memorial Hospital. He was born October 28, 1927 in Memphis, Tennessee, the only child of the late John and Velma Ladd. He leaves his three children, Charlotte (Thomas) Dickens of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Christie Ladd of Memphis, Tennessee, and Curt (Karol) Ladd of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Tommy and Chris Dickens of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Grace and Joy Ladd of Dallas, Texas; his half-sister Margaret Ellen Sykes of Memphis, Tennessee; niece Deborah (Wayne) Walker of Memphis, TN; and his former wife Charlotte Ladd of Cordova, Tennessee. Bob was a captain of the football team and graduate of Central High School. He also attended Memphis State University. Bob was well know throughout the golf community and was one of the oldest members of Colonial Country club. Bob was an avid golfer and continued to play competitive golf in tournaments throughout his life. A self-made businessman, his love of golf inspired him to start his career in the golf industry. Founder of Ladds, Inc., formerly Bob Ladd, Inc., he retired in 1998. He lived life to its fullest with his golden retriever, Putter, and his springer spaniel, Sally. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel beginning at 10AM with gathering beginning at 9AM. After cremation, a private interment will follow at a later date.
