Bobbie Cobb Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 29, 2014.
Bobbie Barton Cobb, 83, died peacefully Monday, April 28, 2014 at her home in The Woodlands, Texas. She was born July 5, 1930 in Marlin, Texas to David Allen and Lillie Mae Barton. During her high school years at Union Grove, she was the Valedictorian, Editor of the school paper, Drum Major, Student Director and twice member of the All-State Band as a clarinetist. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Baylor University and her Master of Business Education degree from the University of Houston. At Baylor, she was President of Phi Gamma Nu, Secretary of the newly formed School of Business , and Homecoming Queen nominee while maintaining honor status academically. During the summers she worked for Congressman Lindley Beckworth in Washington, D.C. After graduating from Baylor, she married Gerald Dallas Cobb, and they were happily married for 62+ years.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Gerald D. Cobb; her children and their spouses, Dr. Gerald B. and Parto Cobb, Catherine and Leslie LeBleu; their grandchildren, Dallas Cobb, Celia and Jason Burns, Kaia Cobb, David LeBleu, Coby Cobb, and Parsa Baghalian; her siblings and in-laws, Dr. Maxine and Clyde Hart, Ann Jones, and Mary Cobb. She is also survived by her numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bobbie's life-long passions were teaching, traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, and especially her family. She was a business educator for 26 years at Galena Park ISD and 2 years at San Jacinto Jr. College, a Sunday school teacher for 30+ years at the First Baptist Church in Galena Park, and after retirement, a volunteer ESL instructor at her church for 13 years.

For such a petite woman, she had a huge personality. She held strong viewpoints on a variety of topics and could debate her points of view famously. If you were not aware of her feelings, you were not listening! GrandBobbie was a tremendous influence on her family and will be forever loved and missed.

She is the wisest person I have ever known. I still argue with her regularly even after her passing. I am beyond lucky to have been her first grandchild.

Thought of her often. If not for her assistance, I would not have graduated high school. Remember getting on my hands and knees and begging her to pass me. Not sure what or how it happened but I graduated with a C average. I owed her a lot and never thanked her. If she had known how I turned out, I believe she would have been proud of her decision and me. With teary eyes, Thank You.

Dear Dr. Cobb, Bart, Cathy and family,

I send you heartfelt condolences upon Mrs. Cobb's transition from this world to Heaven. From my earliest memories to my freshman year in college, Mrs. Cobb was there to set an example for me. In fact, she remains one of the most influential persons in my life. Mrs. Cobb was a beautiful Christian Lady whose love of God was always evident. I suppose she closed her eyes here; and then opened them in the glorius presence of our Lord Jesus Christ forever and ever. I know all of Heaven rejoiced when she entered. May the Lord comfort each of you with His Holy Spirit during this difficult time. Dr. Cobb, I would love to have the privilege of visiting you again whenever you are ready. Please call and provide me with your phone and address. I pray God's richest blessings to each member of your wonderful family.
