Bobby Barnett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 5, 2022.
Bobby Barnett, 95, of Lauderhill, FL, passed away on July 2, 2022. He died peacefully at home surrounded by photos of his large, eclectic family, and in the presence of his beautiful and loving wife of 71 years, Dianne ("Dinny"). He is also survived by his children Gene Barnett and Mindy Barnett-Parker (David Parker), grandchildren Sarah Barnett (Lizzie), Jordan Barnett-Parker (Marissa) and Daniel Barnett-Parker (Katy Green), and great grandchildren, Henry and Finn Barnett.

Bobby was born in Brooklyn, NY and was one of 10 siblings. He was known as Uncle Bobby to his 34 nieces and nephews and often amused them with his Donald Duck impression and other antics. When asked what he remembers about Bobby, one of his great-grandchildren said, "He played the saxophone, was super happy, funny, and generous."

Bobby and Dianne loved life together. They kept a beautiful home and shared it often. Their regular poolside barbecues featured delicious food, fun, and of course, music. They were world travelers, and it was rare for a year to go by without a cruise or flight to places like Spain, the Caribbean, or Israel.

Bobby spent his life entertaining others on stages large and small. Whether it was singing at the Palace Theatre, whistling down the hallways of Forest Trace, or playing the saxophone at weddings (including his own), he never missed a beat. Even lucky callers who reached his answering machine were greeted with an original tune by Bobby and Dianne who requested a message after the "bee-u-tee-ful beep."

He freely doled out kisses to his wife, his family members, and even his own biceps from time to time. He also expressed his love through cards, often adding a witty comment along with an original "roses are red" poem.

Although he lived to 95, it feels far too soon to lose such a vibrant, youthful, and loving man. Thank you for the laughs, Bobby. You will be truly missed.

Roses are red

Violets are blue

There will never be another one

Quite like you

A funeral service will be held in his honor at 11:45am on July 6, 2022 at the Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery and Funeral Home at 7701 Bailey Rd, North Lauderdale, FL 33068.
