Bobby Brewer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 14 to Aug. 15, 2004.
July 30, 1937 - Aug. 5, 2004
A memorial service for Bobby Leroy Brewer, 67, of Powers, was held on Aug. 9 at the senior center in Powers.
He was born July 30, 1937, in Cane Creek, Ark., the son of Rayford and Margaret (Stokes) Brewer. He died of a heart attack on Aug. 5, 2004, in Redmond.
At the age of 15, Bob moved to Coos Bay from Arkansas. After finishing high school, he joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17. He took great pride in his Army service and retired after 20 years with many awards and medals.
He and Anette Coleman met in Coos Bay while Bob was on leave from the Army. After a six-week courtship, they married on June 18, 1958. After his Army retirement, he worked for the Coos County Parks Department for 21 years.
Bob and his family moved to the outskirts of Powers and turned their property into a little farm. Bob loved his family, building on their home, his big garden and helping others. His granddaughter, Megan, and her friends knew "Papa" always had an air compressor, emergency gas and help for their four-wheeler and dirt bikes, plus a cold bottle of water or soda in the outside refrigerator.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Annette of Powers; mother, Margaret Brewer of Coos Bay; mother-in-law, Donna Anderson of Coos Bay; brother, Norm Brewer of La Pine; sister, Edna Boerger of Indiana; daughter and son-in-law, Liz and Bruce Dunwoodie of Everett, Wash.; daughter, Margie Spencer of Coos Bay; son, David Brewer of Powers; eight grandchildren, Megan, Jesse, Courtney, Lindsey, Kaitlyn, McKenna, Cayden and Jaidee; and special friends, Nancy and Jerry Resheske of North Bend.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Powers High School Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 479, Powers, OR 97466.

Annette,

I was so sorry to hear about Bob. It still shocks me when ever I think about him being gone. I can remember when we lived next door in the duplex and he was so nice and took me down to california and dropped me off at my aunt and uncles for the summer. He was such a kind and helping person and I will always remember him.

I'll be praying for you.

Love Lisa Duryee
