So sorry to learn of this tragic loss. I remember vividly the energy that Ray, along with Wade Moore and the other West Florence Knights basketball squad, created in that gymnasium in the 1970's.

To Ray's parents and siblings, I have felt your loss. Life will never be the same, but somehow it will eventually be good again.
To Ray's wife and children, I didn't have the privilege of knowing Ray very well in High School, but many of my friends did...and so, I knew "of" him. I remember, because I never heard an unkind word said about your Ray. From all I can tell, he was able to bring a little of God's Kingdom to this earth. His life here with all of his family, friends and strangers was but a "blink" compared to the eternity we will share with Ray someday. Just keep thinking...Ray is away...We are still here...and Some Sweet Day...
Blessings and Comfort to you.

Ray brought many smiles to my face, during our high school days, with his great athletic ability and his fun loving personality. I have not seen him much since those days, but have heard much about the impact his life had on many people. I am glad to know He is with the Lord and that in the future I will be able to catch up with him again. My prayers and thoughts are with all of his friends and family.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. ( 2 Cor. 1:3-5)

I was blessed by having an old friendship with Ray rekindled the last few years through helping coach Campbell's baseball team. The strength, determination and dignity with which Ray met the adversities in his life are an inspiration to me and my family and I'm sure a source of pride to his.If you knew him, you loved him. Thanks Ray.

Once back when Ray was a senior in HS, we were hagnging out at the YMCA....I was a fairly good basketball player & challenged him to a game of 1 on 1 to 11. Ray snorted with derision and reluctantly agreed to mess with me. I was hot, and bolted out to a 9-0 lead. Ray was laughing & cutting up the whole time, and finally, he had enough. He won 11-10. We became good friends there, and continued to be through the years. He was always...and I mean always....kind and gracious, and would go out of his way to speak with me. Our families became friends also...he was a blessing, and will be missed. May God Bless.

There are no words when a mother, a father, lose a child, no matter what age or situation. I just pray that faith and family will get everyone through this time and that life will take on a new 'normal' without Ray there in body...but his spirit will always live on with his children and anyone who thinks of him and smiles. His work on this earth was done. We will see him again.
