Everyone needs a "Bobby Byrd". I always watch videos of JB and Bobby and it shows two friends in sync and having a good time.
Bobby was the perfect compliment and supporter on stage to JB. #tears
I wish I had a "Bobby Byrd". We all need one. Blessings to the family #lavelllucas, www.lavelllucas.com

I spiritually felt like leaving this message after watching Netflix 'Get On Up' and was curious if Mr Byrd was still alive. I was so moved by your devout loyalty to your family and Mr Brown that I landed here and just wanted to leave this message. Your presence is still felt.
God Bless your soul

In the 1960s, I was a teenager in junior high school in NYC. My friends and I played hooky just to get good seats to see James Brown and the Famous Flames at the Apollo in Harlem, where my family lived. We loved James Brown, but we were there to see Bobby Byrd! He was the coolest and smoothest one on stage.

Mr. Byrd, so many remember the greatest love that you shared with Mr. James Brown. You were both a brother, and a true collaborator. You are still with us in the talents of Usher, Prince, and those that you influenced into the Funk. My father took me to see James Brown and the Flames at the Royal Theater in 1967. Greatness, indeed. I never forgot it. Rest in peace eternally, and know that you are remembered. All my love, Jekema

I was fan of yours Mr. Byrd and James Brown. I saw the movie that was shown 7 years after you death. I never knew your personality but the gentlemen that played you was an excellent double for you. He did an great job. I was truly a big fan of you and James Brown. My grandmother would let me by any records at that time but I am 57 years old and I have downloaded all the ones I could remember; that you did vocals on like "Soul Power, "What you gon play now", "Bobby I dont know but whatsaever I play it got to be funky, 1 2 3 Make it Funky" lol. Rest in peace Mr. Byrd

September 26, 2007
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Vicky, it been years since we have
seen each other, but I want you to know that I am thinking about
you and your family. I knew the love
you and Bobby shared.
I have fond memories of him, he
were well known around the world,
but that did not keep him from
coming to my small Church
(MT Calvary Baptist) to play for
our Choir. He could have gone to
numerous large Churches , but
he chose our.
God Bless you and your family.
Know that we will meet Bobby
again under perfect conditions,
where there are no more heartache
suffering or pain.

Daddy-O!!!! What else can I say but I was truly blessed to have spent time with this man and his family. Being raised by my grandparents, I was exposed to all kinds of soul and blues music. My biggest inspiration was James Brown and the famous flames. I impersonated Mr. Brown in school competitions. little did I know that I would meet the orchestrator of that fonky sound, Mr Bobby Byrd!! Not only did I meet him but I lived in his home for a little over 3 months. I have a story to tell for the rest of my life now. How many people can say that they Shared several meals with a legend and spoke to James Brown on the phone? I love you Daddy-O and i wish that i could've spent more time with you. Hold your head high with pride Mammy-o. love you dearly. Thanks for everything. Peace and Yah bless. David "Dibz" PS Tell Bart to keep the fonk pumpin.

I was blessed to call this wonderful man my brother for over 40 years I have never met anyone else who was as kind an thoughtful as Bobby nor have I ever met anyone who knew him that didn't love him, he had so much love for his family, especially his wife Vicki, and for all those around him. I humbly ask God to give the family strength today as they lay this wonderful man to rest, and remind them to know that he will always be with them. I attended his service in Atlanta on the 22nd and the love that was in that church for Bobby was very apparent.
Family in Bobby's words " Don't worry about a thing" he is "fantastic" because he is with God now an no longer in pain, find strength in the knowledge that he will never be far from you all you have to do is look inside yourselves and he will be there.
Love always;
Charlotte
Mommy-o remember what I told you in Atlanta;
Think of Bobby as not gone but just on a extended tour;
Because a love like you two had will always endure.
