Baseball player Bobby Jenks died July 4, 2025, in Sintra, Portugal, of adenocarcinoma at the age of 44.
He was a relief pitcher for the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox in the 2000s and 2010s, known as a powerful closer.
Jenks is being remembered for helping the White Sox to victory in his rookie year at the 2005 World Series, including throwing the final pitch of the series.

This weekend, July 11-13, The White Sox will honor players from the 2005 World Series. Jenks, #45, will have has patch on uniforms.
He threw 100+mph fastballs back then.

Bobby, what can I say my friend? I was dreading this announcement brother. I just want to thank you for your support in high school. I enjoyed watching all those mariners White Sox´s games. Thanks again for that fun grand junction co game.

To the family of Bobby, My Deepest Sympathy, my prayers are with your Family. Sox would of never won that World Series without Bobby, that is my opinion. You should be proud as a fan to have witnessed that unbelieveable Series.
