Bobette Dannettell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 21, 2025.
Judith "Bobette" Dannettell, age 87, of Loveland Colorado went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ January 15th 2025 at Medical Center of the Rockies hospital in Loveland. She passed peacefully surrounded by Jim Dannettell, her husband of 66 years, her children and grandchildren.

Bobette was born in Laramie, Wyoming February 15, 1937 to Olive Edith (Dixie) (nee James) and Harold Melcher. She was raised in Laramie. In high school, she was nominated to Girl's State, was Daughters of the American Revolution "DAR" Citizen of the Year and DAR Citizen of the State. She taught Sunday School, which would ultimately play a part in her choice of profession. She had prayed about what she should do, and "One day as I was riding in a homecoming parade float, one of my Sunday School students yelled 'there is my teacher' and within my heart, I knew my prayer had been answered."

She attended the University of Wyoming (UW) and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority, elected to Spurs, Sophomore honorary, Iron Skull, Junior honorary, and finally to Mortar Board and Phi Kappa Phi her senior year. She graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts With Honors from the UW College of Education.

She met her husband, Jim Dannettell while they were juniors at UW. They were married their senior year and after graduation, moved to Nunn Colorado where Bobette taught first grade.

The couple relocated to Huntington Beach California where they raised two sons. In California Bobette was active in church service establishing a preschool that flourished for over twenty years providing scholarships to needy children. In addition, Bobette served for many years as a discussion leader for Bible Study Fellowship and then in later years, as a leader for Community Bible Study. Bobette also started a Caring Ministry within the church that coordinated support for needs of the congregation. Additionally she co-founded a lay counseling program that would assist the pastors in ministering to the many needs of the congregation. While living in Huntington Beach Bobette had many close friends that loved crafts, sewing and creating beautiful decorations for all occasions. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas where she would always have beautifully decorated trees that were works of art that her family would enjoy together.

Upon retirement Bobette and Jim relocated to Loveland Colorado, where she again served her church through volunteer receptionist, decorating special events, working in VCS and participating in the ALPHA program. She was a volunteer host at the Deadman Fire Lookout Tower in Colorado's Roosevelt National Forest and spent many years working at the Drylanders Museum in Nunn Colorado. Also through an interest in genealogy research, Bobette discovered she was related to Simon Kenton, an early frontiersman which enabled Bobette to be accepted in the DAR society (Daughters of the American Revolution). Bobette was a member of PEO, a national non-profit organization whose mission is to assist women in educational goals through financial scholarship assistance She especially enjoyed decorating and setting beautiful tables for the PEO harvest luncheons.

Bobette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She held a strong faith in Jesus as her savior and had a passion for helping others. She was a teacher, preschool administrator, church volunteer, bible study leader, antique collector, accomplished seamstress, genealogy buff, homemaker and meticulous hostess. She cherished her many friendships in both California and Colorado. Bobette is survived by her husband, her son's Bryan and Brad, their wives, 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2pm Thursday April 17th at Mountain View Presbyterian Church 2500 N. Garfield Ave. Loveland, CO 80538. A livestream of the service will be available on the MVPC website: https://www.mymvpc.com

So sorry for the loss of your mother, Brad. She raised 2 wonderful sons and had an amazing life despite her pain which she no longer must cope with. She is at peace now with God and watching over you with her love. May your tears fade quickly and return as wonderful memories to forever hold close to your heart.

Bobette will forever be in my mind and in my heart. She was a dear neighbor and an amazing friend to me for many years. My children were raised next door to Bobette and Jim and over 13 years, Bobette showed my family unwavering, abundant love.
You will be so missed, Bobette.

Dear Jim & Family, I was so saddened to hear of Bobette's passing. She was an inspiration to those of us in the Northern Colorado History Connection. Because of her, I now subscribe and enjoy the magazine "Colorado Life". I was hoping to come to her memorial service, but unfortunately I have a Doctor's appointment at the same time. I shall always cherish my memories of her.

Bobette was a wonderful teacher and good friend. I remember the compassion she showed to a little girl in our class who came to school barefoot.
