Services for Bonita K. "Bonnie" Butterworth, 65, Rock Island, will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. The family will greet friends from 3 p.m. until service time at the mortuary. Private burial and graveside services will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Bonnie died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. Bonita Kay Peterson was born Dec. 22, 1936, to Folke and Margaret (Karlson) Peterson in Dubuque, Iowa. She married William "Bill" Butterworth in July 1968 in Rock Island and was a graduate of the former St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing, Davenport. For the past 34 years she owned and operated Butterworth Travel in Moline and Davenport. She was a member of American Society of Travel Agents, Rotary International and Moline Optimists Club and a former member of Moline Jaycees. Her special interests included traveling and collecting travel memorabilia from around the world as well as rose gardening. She was especially devoted to her beloved dogs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Humane Society of Rock Island County or Rock Island County VNA. Survivors include son, Benjamin (and his wife Molly) Butterworth, St. Louis, Mo.; "daughter," Diane Kelly, Creed, Colo.; stepdaughter, Janey Wilson, Berea, Ky.; stepsons, Robert (and his wife Barbara) Butterworth, Davenport, and Todd Butterworth, Terre Haute, Ind.; sister, Linda (and her husband Jim) DeNoma, Buffalo Grove, Ill.; cousins, Mary Ann Ringberg, Naples, Fla., and Patricia Hartmann, Milan, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Marilyn Chappell, Charlotte Lizdas, and Arlene Gass, along with her many other close friends and traveling companions.
