Bonnie Hartman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 22 to May 23, 2014.

Bonnie J. North Hartman, age 62, of Erie, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born April 22, 1952, in Annapolis, Md., the daughter of the late Cdr. William J. and Patricia Driscoll North.

Bonnie was a 1970 graduate of Villa Maria Academy, where she was an outstanding basketball player. She was also an avid swimmer, and later went on to coach the Sacred Heart girl's basketball team.

She had worked as an X-ray technician at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, and at Providence Hospital in Sandusky, Ohio. Bonnie had volunteered at Cathedral Center grade school and the St. Peter Cathedral Food Bank.

She loved her son, Seamus, her large family, babies, animals, walking the Peninsula and the Pennsylvania Lottery, but her true love was all things Irish.

Besides her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by a brother, John A. North.

Bonnie is survived by her son, Seamus Hartman of Erie; four sisters, Margaret Ann Paterson and her husband Robert of Erie; Johanna North of Erie; Patricia North of Erie; and Amy Madda and her husband Lucian of Bay Village, Ohio; two brothers, William J. North of Westlake, Ohio, and Robert E. North and his wife Louise of North East, Pa.

Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th and Liberty St., on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at which time Funeral Services will be held. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Orphan Angels, 5439 West Lake Rd., Erie, PA 16505, or to the American Lung Association, 810 River Ave., Suite 140, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

I am so very sorry for your sister's passing, Johanna. I just heard at 7:44 pm last night at which time the funeral service was being held. Please accept my sympathies. I remember her as a fun, supportive lady, who came to see our productions at St. Pete's when you were principal. Those were simpler days. God bless you in your retirement years and the rest of your family as you come together to remember Bonnie at holidays.

Seamus & all of your uncle & aunts...
I will miss your mom. We went to the hospital the day you were born. You were absolutely one of the most beautiful babies I ever saw. Your mom was so proud & so full of love holding her precious bundle of joy. So sorry that she passed but I am sure God is holding her in his loving arms.

Love to you....& your family

Dear Pat, Amy and Johanna,
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Such a surprise to read of Bonnie's death. I remember so well those "great" VMA days: algebra, basketball, etc. and the North girls who were there in the late 60s and into the 70s and were such a part of all of that fun. Wonderful and fond memories.
