Mrs. Bonnie Mary Holmes

Bonnie Mary Holmes passed away on March 28th, 2010, at Chilliwack General Hospital, at age 61 years. She was born March 25th, 1949, in Ladysmith, BC; the fourth of five daughters born to Mary and Charlie Holmes. Bonnie is survived by her husband Peter, two loving sons Jon and Charlie, sisters Pat Schnare (Jim) from Salmon Arm; Lynn Smith (Dick) from Merrit; Catherine McCrory from Victoria and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bonnie lived in Chilliwack with her husband and family for 20 years.
After returning to school to upgrade her business administration skills she made her family proud by making the Dean's List in 2004 when she completed her studies at age 55. She most recently worked for the Chilliwack School District for three years from September, 2004, to September, 2007, until her cancer diagnosis.
Bonnie was predeceased by her mother, Mary Rosetta McCrory; her sister, Sheila McCrory; and her father, Charlie McCrory.
Bonnie was very active in her community. She was a past member and volunteer for the Optimist Club of Chilliwack, participated in the annual Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life event, and was very active in the past for Chilliwack Minor Lacrosse and the Juvenile Diabetes Association. Bonnie always had time for her family and friends. She belonged to a 'Survivor' Dinner Group with her good friends Julie Houlker, Michelle Rickaby, Glenda Standeven and their husbands. Bonnie was known for her welcoming smile and wonderful ability to make people feel comfortable.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 3rd at Henderson's Funeral Chapel from 10-11:00 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon which will be held at the family home at 46684 Macken Avenue. Family and friends are asked to donate to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of their choice in lieu of flowers.
