Bonnie Larsen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 28 to Feb. 4, 2023.
Bonnie passed away in Rochester, MN at age 87. Bonnie was ever-loved for being a kind and beautiful soul, with a fun sense of humor--who would do most anything for her family and friends.

She was born in Graceville, MN and subsequently moved to Wahpeton, ND with her mother, Mae Saeger and sister Julie, where she also attended the ND State College of Science. Bonnie married Jack Larsen in 1959 and they made their home in Moorhead, MN, where they owned and operated Larsen Hardware for many years and raised their 3 children. Bonnie was active in many of their children's activities and helped organize and support their local swim team and supported them in many other activities and endeavors as well. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Moorhead and sang in the choir for many years.

Bonnie was employed in administration for the Fargo Public Schools for 22 years and served as President of the Clerical Association. Following retirement, Bonnie put her caring nature into service work and volunteered with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program in numerous ways in the Fargo/Moorhead area.

Music was in Bonnie's soul and for 30 years she sang with the Sweet Adeline's chorus, including the Acapella Xpress Show Chorus in Fargo/Moorhead. They enjoyed entertaining throughout the local area and also competed in several international competitions, which brought her numerous adventures across the globe. Besides music, Bonnie enjoyed theater, volunteering, her many friends and especially her family. Bonnie and her husband, Jack, loved to travel and had many adventures visiting family and friends throughout the US, as well as in Germany and Norway.

Following the death of her husband, Jack, Bonnie moved to Pueblo, CO to be closer to family and grandchildren. She volunteered at a local hospital and enjoyed being a member of the Church, Newcomers, Art Association, and the Elkettes.

She moved to Rochester, MN in 2020 to be with her daughter and spent her remaining years there.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Larsen, her sister, Julie Maudal, and her son, Paul Larsen. She is survived by her daughter Lynn Estes, and her son, Greg Larsen--and his wife Diana and grandchildren Andres and Maria.
