Bonnie Wilson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 17, 2025.
Miss Bonnie Wilson, 76, of Lancaster, left us on Sunday, October 6, 2024. She was born September 9, 1948, in Maryland, the third of four daughters, to the late George and Edna (Vandyke) Wilson.

Bonnie was a Lancaster High School graduate. She was employed at Anchor Hocking while she worked on acquiring her Bachelors of Science in Education at Ohio University, and ultimately received her Masters degree from OU. Bonnie was a dedicated teacher who was passionate about her job and cared deeply about her students. She spent extra hours at school, daily, preparing upcoming lessons and to give the best of herself to her students. Bonnie spent her teaching career with Lancaster City Schools at South, Chief Tarhe, and East Elementaries.

Cats. Bonnie loved her cats. There were many special kitties that she pampered over the years. Her students knew the easiest way to get Miss Wilson off topic was to get her talking about one of the kitties. It worked every time. In addition, she was an avid reader, connoisseur of show tunes and musicals, and a huge fan of Pat Summitt and Women's Basketball.

Bonnie was preceded in death by the love of her life, her loving wife, Joyce Cochenour; her parents, and her sister Merry Lee Walters.

She is survived by her step-children, Rusty (Shelley) Cochenour, Vickie (John) Connell; grandchildren, Rebecca and Nic Cochenour; sisters, Pat Russell, Bev Lutz; many nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was a private person and it was her wish that no services be held.

Yesterday

Miss Wilson was a teacher the kids at South loved to have. She was an inspiring teacher for my boys, someone you thought of from time to time and wondered what ever happened to her. She made that big of an impression on my family. We all loved her, sorry to hear of her passing.
