Memory Eternal for World Chess Champion Boris Vasilievich Spassky. What is generally not known about Mr. Spassky is that he was an Orthodox Christian (not a Communist foot soldier). His life exemplified sportsmanship not gamesmanship. Spassky's family was blessed to have St Seraphim of Vyritsa (1866-1949) as its spiritual confessor. While his longtime friend and rival Bobby Fischer defeated the Soviet machine on the gameboard, Spassky defeated the Soviet machine on the Chessboard of Life. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Mr. Spassky. May Light Eternal shine upon you now and forevermore.
Love and Blessings,
