Brenda E. Payton, 58, of The Pines passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Franciscan Health Michigan City.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022, at 6 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home. Viewing will be held on Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Brenda was born March 14, 1964, in Missouri to Edgar and Connie Jeanette (Land) Stout. Her father is preceding her in death and her mother is surviving in Michigan City.
On Sept. 16, 2005, in Michigan City she married Richard Payton, who is surviving in The Pines.
Also surviving are two sons, James and Christopher; two stepdaughters, Rachel and Heather (Joe) Perkins; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Darryl (Joeylin) Stout; one sister, Leslie "Renee" (James "Chip") Birmingham; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father and one brother, Eddie Ray Stout.
Brenda worked in the deli department at Meijers in Michigan City.
She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Brenda ,was my sister and my sons godmother ,she will be missed so much ,you would all would not know how much. ,love her whole family ,and so sorry for your loss ..

Brenda was a lovely person I always enjoyed working with her when I was employed at Meijer; She was kind of like my sister always fun to be around and great to work with I will miss her very much, my condolences to her family.
