A natural friend whom I admired.
Too many stories to tell about the hundreds whom he affected daily.
More than that he was personal. I'm breathless at his departure.

Can't say I've met
a man more noble than he
Not just a friend
but a friend to so many
Brendan O'Reilly
To say he kept a bar
or three,
can never convey
the impact he left on me.
So fortunate was I
nay,
all of Raleigh,
to have known such a fine man,
the favorite son
of the Island across the Sea
(by way of NYC)
I will always admire -
forever toast to thee!
being of such uncommon character
Who could not relate easily?
You treated all with respect
care and honesty,
compassion,
warmth and loyalty.
Forthrightness,
Humor,
Integrity
A soul of rare commodity
I hope in time we'll once again see
The spaces you created
with the highest hospitality
so comfortable and real
Your understanding of the human condition
was anything but ordinary
Those spaces were but extensions
of a classic style charisma
You displayed so genuinely
Such fond memories I plan to keep,
Of evening conversations with you and Linda,
About the thriving downtown beat
fun stories from the past,
anecdotes on family, love and philosophy
and the comings and goings on Hargett Street.
And I don't know how to express
to whatever cosmic forces there be,
but they should see it fit
and make it possibility
that I'm in your presence again
and I hope that when that happens

Brendan was such a great guy. well remember late nights at the Ear Inn with him at the Bar and we boys of the Lackluster trio belting out songs. Such a prince! Deepest sympathies to his near and dear ones.
