I didn’t know Brent very well but we met when I was working at a deli on Robson Street in the 80’s. For some reason his name popped into my mind recently and I decided to look him up online. I was so shocked and saddened to hear of his passing and wanted to pass on my sincere condolences to his family and friends. What an amazing artist he was and a truly kind and inspirational individual. May he rest in peace.

I only just today found out about Brent's passing. I am in complete shock and so very sad at this news.
Brent and I met in our twentys at Luv Affair and I have fond memories of our times together. I remember him inviting me to one of his first art shows at a local cafe, sharing stories of him growing up in Saskatchewan, showing me his studio, us running into each other to then stop in at The Railway for a drink or a coffee somewhere.
Although our lives went in different directions I would see Brent often on my way home along Granville Street. Generally he was sitting outside having coffee or I would catch him walking over the Granville Bridge as I drove past. As odd as it may sound, it truly warmed my heart to see him at these times. He always held a very special place and I will forever remember a beautiful ,sensitive man with so much talent.
My sincerest condolences to his family and fiancé.

Oh dear, I just heard this news and am shocked! I had known Brent in the city we both adopted and shared the same youthful parties, cliques, and interests. Many decades of running into Brent at shared interest locals and mutual friends; plus many soulful chats at my home over coffees or wine; always felt tomorrow would always come; run-ins would always prevail. I saw a healthy Brent last coming from Granville Island. Now, it's surreal to know he no longer will be bumped into, no longer can banter about the "old days" and mutual friends. I send Peace, Courage and tender reminiscing over this quiet, quirky and complex soul. He made his mark.

My most sincere condolences to Brent's loved ones. I live in South Granville and have for over 15 years now and would see Brent frequently and I as well am an artist so he stood out to me, I cannot say I really knew him however, I did see him in early September making a trip to the coffee shop in his wheelchair and while recognizing him and seeing he was sick a part of me wanted to feel sorry for him til I noticed a young beautiful blond women who showed great and immense courage and love for this man she was pushing down the street in a wheelchair, wow I thought he is sure loved as it is hard to feel sorry for those who are so loved (even though so ill), it is those he leaves behind though and have lost him that I now feel sorry for and my heart goes out to as Brent was stoic, strong and above all an artist, an artist lives true to their being and enriches their life with creating, it really fills the soul, as young as he was I am sure he lived life to the fullest in his heart, especially the last 6 months when we realize how time slows down and how precious life and love really is. I will always remember him and know that he lives on in his art and the people he left behind, ....may angels protect him now, peace,
