Brett Coffey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 22, 2025.
Saint Augustine - Brett Michael Coffey, 47, passed away on September 17, 2025, in Saint Augustine, Florida after battling the terrible effects of Multiple Sclerosis for many years. Born on September 8, 1978, in Beacon, New York, Brett brought joy and warmth to those around him throughout his life.

A graduate of Ketcham High School, where he played baseball, Brett remained closely connected to his roots and family. He was the beloved son of Thomas Coffey, Sr. and Gail Coffey, and a cherished brother to Thomas Coffey, Jr. and Daniel Coffey. He also shared a close bond with his sister-in-law Kelley Coffey. As an uncle, Brett held a special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews-Brianna, Tyler, Montana, Grace, Kyla and Jackson and his great nephews Crew and Kamari-who will remember him with deep affection.

A devoted fan of the New York Mets and Giants, Brett's passion for sports was a defining part of his life. Whether cheering from the stands or watching games with loved ones, he found great joy in supporting his teams. His enthusiasm was infectious and often brought people together.

Known for being a loving son, brother, and uncle, Brett touched many lives with his kind spirit. He was a special person who was deeply loved by all who knew him. His absence leaves a profound void that will be felt every single day.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.

From teaching me how to drive, to piercing my ear, to the kindness your parents always had for me by welcoming me in your home unconditionally as I navigated difficult teen years I will always remember and be grateful for the brotherhood we shared. Although we didn´t see each other as much as we wanted these past years your hilarious late night texts always brought a smile to my face when I woke up in the morning. Myself and our tight crew of friends will always remember you and cherish the times we all had together. You are and always will be a one of one. Rest easy brother

My favorite memory of my Uncle Brett is going to the Miley Cyrus concert with him. He knew how much I loved Miley and offered to take me during high school. It was the best time and one of my most treasured memories. I had so much fun with him growing up, and I will forever be his little buddy. I´m going to miss him more than words can say, and I´ll especially miss him saying, "Buzz your girlfriend-woof!" anytime he saw me first thing in the morning when visiting us and staying over. I love you forever UB!

My heart is completely broken. The most wonderful, kind and caring man you could be honored and privileged to know. My heart aches for his passing but also rejoices for his new found freedom. Fly high my beloved friend. I will truly love you forever.
