Brett was our collaborator when I was working on my thesis project on HCV ~15 years ago. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing, what a great loss to the Yale and HCV research community!

I was honored to have met Brett and Joanna. He confronted his disease bravely but was also a top notch scientist who cared deeply about making science advances! He will be missed!

Brett was a kind and positive human, who always looked at the bright side of life, even in his last months. I met Brett when I worked at the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis and thanks to his enthusiastic attitude and encouragement, I fell in love with virus research.
He sent me happy songs and cheered me up with his attitude until the very end. What a great loss, I miss his smile already...

Brett was very kind when I was doing my PhD and shared a number of reagents and a little bit of wisdom as well. Very sorry to hear of his passing.

Brett was a kind hearted, brilliant man, who loved viruses as much as I did, loved helping young early career scientists. Was a mentor and someone I looked up too. I cant believe he is gone. I will miss him. We just got to laughing one day about poorly designed experiments in virology. I will never forget him. He was amazing!

Joanna I am so sorry for your loss. I remember when we needed batteries for one of our swings in the infant room that Claire was using and he quickly went and bought us a bunch of them. He also made sure to save me some of the food he made for our summer potluck. He was very thoughtful. I am sending hugs and prayers to you, Molly and my sweetie Claire. You guys will always be in my thoughts.
Love,
Ms. Micki

I am very saddened by Brett´s passing. I was Molly´s preschool teacher at Alphabet Academy. Brett always had a big smile on his face when he dropped off Molly in the morning. You are in my thoughts and prayers, Joanna, Molly, and Claire.
