Brett Miller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 14 to Nov. 15, 2022.
Brett Alan Miller, age 59, passed away peacefully, at home surrounded by loved ones, on November 10th, 2022. Born to Lorna and Dr. Arthur Miller, Brett grew up in Miami Shores, Florida. He attended Miami Country Day and Archbishop Curley Notre Dame High School where he developed a love for soccer and made most of his life long friendships.

In the summer of 1982, Brett met the love of his life, Tama Miller, in Barbados where she was studying abroad. After meeting they were inseparable, dating long distance and then marrying two years later. Over the years together, they welcomed three children into this world, which became Brett's meaning of life. They celebrated 38 years of marriage this year.

As a native of Miami, Brett grew up on the water and the ocean always held a special place in his heart and mind. From competitive water skiing to free-diving for lobsters, Brett spent most of his adolescent years out at sea with his friends. His passion for the water continued throughout his life where he worked as a boat captain and charter fisherman living out his ideal life spending as much time as he could doing what he always loved.

Professionally, one of Brett's most cherished accomplishments was joining the Miami-Dade Fire Department. He spent most of his Fire Department career as a driver for Engine 30 in Miami Shores, where he bonded with his crew and built some of his closest friendships. Next to his family and his love for the water, his calling as a fireman was one of Brett's greatest honors in life.

In his personal life, Brett's primary focus was his family. Nothing mattered more to him than his wife and children. Over all other aspects of life, his family was his core and he strived to do everything he could to provide the best life possible for them. From humble beginnings as a boat captain, to his Fire Department career, everything was done to help his family have the best life possible. Brett was the type of husband and father who would drop everything and be there in an instant if needed.

Brett is survived by his wife, Tama Miller; his three children Crystal Bowers (Miller), Kyle Miller and Nicole Miller; and his two grandchildren Adleigh Bowers and Mason Bowers. He will be forever remembered and memorialized as a loving and caring father whose time on this earth was filled with true friendships and love from all his family.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him...

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Brett's charities of choice, Wounded Warrior Project in support of our nation's veterans and Tunnel to Towers Foundation which honors our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country.

I remember him as being really good at sports. He was a friend at Country Day from the first day we met. He was always a posotive person with a great sense of humor. When I looked over his life's work it totally fits him. He loved the water for sure! And him as an awesome dad totally fits. Country Day at that time was so small that you know everyone. All of my friends are from Country Day and Bret was one of them. My sympathy and prayers got to his family during this difficult time. Bret was just a super nice person.
