Brian Bates Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 22, 2023.
Chad Bates, 49, of Taveres, FL, passed away on November 19, 2023. Born on May 10, 1974, in Miami, Florida, Chad was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend.

Chad attended Spring Valley High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Florida State University. During his time at the university, Chad excelled, becoming a first-team All-ACC football player. He later pursued his passion for football and played in the European league before having a brief season with the Dallas Cowboys.

Outside of his career in sales, Chad had a deep love for music, sports, cooking, and the great outdoors. He was an avid sports fan, with a heart that bled garnet and gold for his beloved Florida State Seminoles. Chad also enjoyed fishing and, despite his lack of skill, always had a good time playing golf. His friends knew him as a funny and kind-hearted individual who would go above and beyond to help others. Chad's love for his family was immeasurable, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Chad is survived by his parents Junior and Carolyn Bates, children, Cami, Cole, from his previous relationship with Nikki Cornwell and Piper Bates with his wife, Jennifer Powers. He is also survived by his sister, Bae Scelfo and brother-in-law, Jim Scelfo, nephews, Torr and Shepard, nieces, Alon and Alafair Scelfo.

In memory of Chad Bates, contributions can be made to Pediatric Cancer Research through St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.

On November 30th, A Celebration of Life will be held at Lakeside Inn in Mount Dora, Fl from 12-3 followed by a Memorial Service at First Baptist Church of Mount Dora at 4:00.

Chad will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His infectious laughter, caring nature, and unwavering loyalty will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace.

I just found out about Chad's passing. Chad and I played against each other in high school and played together on the Shrine Bowl team. He was a great offensive lineman and even better person. May God continue to bless his family and friends.. George Hampton ( 1992 Shrine Bowl Teammate)

Dear Chad.
I'm so greatful our parents were best friends for over 55 years and you were put into my life which I am so greatful for. We grew up together. You were like the brother Torr and I never had. Always playing pranks, making us all laugh, and your heart of gold will always shine bright. You are one of the kindest person I have ever known. Although we didn't always talk or see one another all the time. I knew when we did, we would pick up where we left off. There is so much more I wish I could say, and just see that sparkle in your eyes one more time. And your giant bear hug, and smile that lit up a room. You have left a tremendous legacy and a beautiful family, who loved you dearly. Until we see one another again, farewell my dear friend. Hug Tao for me.
All my love to the Bates family. You'll always be family.
Love, Tasha

I´ve had the pleasure of knowing Chad for almost 6 years. Not only was he a wonderful friend, he was a man with a heart of GOLD. He lit up every room with his bright smile. When I first started at Paychex, Chad was the friend I would chat with during our long, very early drives to the office.
Aside from work we both shared the love and joy of being parents. His children are his world!
My heart goes to those precious babies and Chad´s beautiful family. The stories he has shared will leave us all with such beautiful memories.
Rest in peace my friend

I was blessed to have been able to work with Chad for 10+ years.
For me he was always Chaderooni...a wonderful friend who gave the best hugs!
He was always so kind and friendly towards everyone.

If Mary Amie has her way she will already be helping her dear friend Chad navigate his way around heaven, cheering him up with her infectious laughter

Rest in Peace dearest Chad and don´t let Mary get you into trouble!

I worked with "Chad" for almost 4 years and he would always call me to check in with me once a week as I was going through a divorce. His smile would light up a room. We miss you already and will see you again, just not yet my friend. Rest easy

I worked with "Chad" for almost 4 years and he would always call me once a week just to say hi and check in on me. I was going through a divorce and we bonded on many levels. Such a sweet and friendly guy. His smile would light up a room.
We will see you again buddy, just not yet.
