Our condolences go out to the whole Chatwin family. We were backyard neighbors in Ottawa, and when Mom and Dad would give us a "pool pass", the four of us would scramble over to the Chatwin's. Every so often when I am sorting through my box of memories, I find my Red Cross Pre-Beginner's swim certification that Brian awarded me. It was the early 70's and I may have been all of six or seven years old. Fast forward to 1994 and I find myself in Alberta ready to buy a house and heard of a local lawyer, wondering if he were the same guy. Sure enough, that was Brain. I have called on him over the years to help me with legal matters and found him to be so kind and fair. Our whole family, (Marilyn and Colleen in Cape Breton; Ian, Brent and I in Alberta) are very sorry to hear of Brian's passing.

My heart goes out to all of you. I pray God will give you strength in this time of loss. Brian was a great man and good friend to me. He was honest and truthful and he looked out for the common man. He knew how to give love in a practical, strong and helpful manner and he gave me strength through difficult times. When it was stormy outside and i was afraid I could phone Brian in the dark of night and he would calm me down and talk to me till the storm moved away. He was always there for me when i needed a helping hand. Brian was really a remarkable man and will sadly be missed by all.

Dear Sandy, Jody, Adam and Jacob: My sincere and deepest sympathy to you and your family in your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Brian from 1979 to 1985. He was a kind, generous, bigger than life kind of guy. He was not your typical stereo type lawyer. I would try to beat him in the office in the morning but he always seemed to be there before I started work at 6 a.m. I also remember his love for Willy Nelson - we got a kick out of that. I moved to BC in 1985 and this year was able to touch base with Brian. We reminised about the old days and it was like I had never left. I am deeply saddened by his passing. My prayers and thoughts are with you in this difficult time. Rest in Peace Brian. Jackie Stakkestad (Squarok), Vernon, B.C.
