Brian Hoag Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 18, 2024.
Brian Charles Hoag, born September 6, 1951, in Sidney, Nebraska, departed from this life on March 3, 2024 in Pioche, Nevada. Brian led a fulfilling life characterized by a legacy marked by service, ingenuity and unwavering kindness.

A patriot at heart, Brian proudly served in the Airforce from 1975-1979. His subsequent career with the Bell System was distinguished by his role as a telephone technician and later as a systems technician, where his expertise and diligent work earned him esteem among colleagues, including a memorable encounter famed actor Harrison Ford, a story Brian recounted with humility and pride.

His retirement years did not dim his zest for life; instead, they amplified his passions. He pursued activities that reflected both his love for adventure and an inventive spirit. As an extreme 4 wheeling enthusiast, a HAM radio operator, a licensed drone pilot and a model train builder, he embraced a life of discovery and creativity. He was also a compassionate animal advocate, sharing his home and heart with numerous pets over the years. He had an enjoyment of classic rock that reverberated through the air drums and air guitar sessions he delighted in.

Brian leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, carrying on through his daughter Melissa Hoss, son-in-law Jim, and his favorite grandson Cody Hoss. His memory will also be treasured by his supportive in-laws, many cousins, and countless friends, who found in him a kindred spirit and a reliable companion. Brian was predeceased by his beloved parents Gordon and Helen Hoag, his soulmate and devoted wife Margie, his treasured granddaughter Quinn, and his dear wife Laurie.

In traditional honoring of his memory, a summer Celebration of Life in Colorado will be announced, providing friends and family the opportunity to pay tribute to this one of a kind man. Details will be shared once final arrangements have been made.

To commemorate Brian's lifelong affection for animals and to make a lasting impact in his name, contributions can be directed to the Springer Spaniel Rescue at https://www.springerspanielrescue.org/ where his adored canine companion, Jensen, is currently being fostered.

Brian's enduring generosity, fondness for wisdom-sharing and his gentle spirit will remain an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of his loved ones and the community he served so well.

My sincere condolences to Brian´s family; 2 & 4 legged alike. He was a close friend all through Highschool and beyond. Oh how I remember Brian´s Plymouth Stationwagon. We also attended Lakewood Presbyterian Church. In fact our parents were also friends from Church. I lost track of Brian after I got married and he went into the Military. We touched base while he was living in Parhump & planned on meeting up, but that didn´t happen. Now I am so sorry we didn´t make that happen.

God Speed my dear friend Brian!

He got me started in amateur radio, we went to AHS together class of '69, and he lived a few blocks from me. He was a roommate in my first apartment. My condolences on his passing.
