Brian was beautiful. He loved his whole family, Dev, and always Jenni. He taught at every opportunity. His kindness and caring made him a wonderfully approachable teacher. He had access to joy and wisdom and he understood magic.

Brian was a writer who saw the historical and political lines running through everything. Like good writers do, he developed a deep appreciation for the difficulties of the human condition through his experiences and adventures. He was protective and he took risks.

Brian loved the rivers and hills of Vermont. Those who were unfair to him will find him rising with July´s fire undefeated-dancing free among the sparks and drumming to the stars.

Brian is loved. He took the time to educate and work for good change. He created with tiny stones he collected, wrote letters and admired Cheap Art. He made music and meals, grew gardens, cared for horses, the Earth and us. Brian made a difference. And he poured his sweet soul into each cup of applemint tea.

Brian was a dear friend and so incredibly smart and interesting. The last time that I was with him was many years ago in Vermont and he very helped me through an extremely difficult period of my life. Rest in Peace Brian Long !

Brian was one of the most intelligent, cynical, funny, and honest people I´ve ever encountered in my life.

My heart breaks to think of all the disappointment and injustices he had to contend with.

I will miss his giggle and his style of dance, both were gloriously infectious to all!
Made Brian`s memory be as a blessing for all of us that knew him.
Rest in Peace, dear man.

Both of my sons had Brian during their middle school years at Lamoille Union High School and was their favorite teacher. He was honest, smart funny and a mentor to many young people. He was also my friend. My deepest condolences to his family for your loss of such a beautiful and creative sole.
