Brian Risch

Risch, Brian On July 16th, 2021, Brian Risch passed away peacefully and surrounded by family after battling esophageal cancer. Brian was born in East Grand Rapids, Michigan, on February 15th, 1961 to his parents Claire and Donald Risch. From a young age he found a passion for hockey and played through high school. He attended Michigan State University before heading to work at his grandfather's company, Wolverine Coil Spring, where he worked until retiring in 2017. Brian was a loving son, brother, and father to his two kids. People that know Brian describe him as incredibly patient, easy-going, and never wanting to pass up an opportunity to have fun. He was a pro fisherman, boat-fixer, and watcher of golf. While he had many hobbies of his own, what he really enjoyed was watching his kids have fun. Brian was always finding the latest and greatest toys, electronics, and vehicles to try out with his kids (if it was on sale, of course). He spent hours teaching his kids how to ski, drive boats, golf, and fish. Around the house, he was "Mr. Fix It", having taught himself plumbing and electrical work. Later in life Brian found an interest in speedy cars and bikes, having purchased an e-bike shortly before his passing. Brian will be missed greatly by his family. Brian is preceded in death by his father, Donald Risch. He is survived by his mother, Claire, his siblings, Terry, Steve (Danielle), and Carolyn (Trent), his son, Johnny and his daughter, Mary Jane. A private memorial will be held on Tuesday, July 20th at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE.
