Brian Thuesen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 17, 2011.
Thuesen, Brian Edward Age 52, of St. Anthony Village, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle against his nemesis, Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM). Brian's faith, perseverance and strong sense of humor inspired him to live life every day to the fullest. He adopted the Latin phrase, Carpe Diem, seize the day. As an elementary teacher he taught and guided children from preschool-elementary. After teaching, Brian worked in the non-profit sector focusing on children and families. Brian served proudly for 12 years on the St. Anthony City Council from 1998-2009. Running was one of his greatest passions. He said that running fed his body, mind and soul. Survived by Mary Ann, loving wife and soul mate of 25 years, and his advocate throughout his journey with GBM; precious children, Heidi and Sean; Harlan and Joan Thuesen (parents); siblings, Steve, Bonnie (Al), Dale (Eric); Don Schadle (father- in-law) and Lori (mother-in-law, deceased); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many cherished friends. Visitation Friday 5-8 PM at Washburn-McReavy Northeast Chapel and Saturday 1:00 PM, Faith United Methodist Church, 2708 33rd Ave NE, St. Anthony Village. Celebration of life 2:00 PM. Memorials in Brian's name may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association or to Faith United Methodist Church. Carpe Diem. "This is the day that the Lord hath made, rejoice and be glad in it." I was a high school class mate and heard of Brian's passing through my dad. We were both runners, and attended church together. Brian was a great guy, whose company I always enjoyed. My heart goes out to your family
