I thank God everyday that he was able to bring this wonderful person into my life. She was a ray of sunshine that would brighten up the room when she walked in. I will miss all the little things that Bridget would do and say to brighten up my day. God has a special place for her up in heaven and I know that she is up there looking down on us and telling us not to worry about her anymore because she will be in our hearts forever. Lots of love to you Bridget; your strengh and courage will always live on in my memory and in my heart.

I know that Heaven is hard to get into because He always accepts the best of us in. Bridget is truly one the the most wonderful people I have ever known. I will always remember her positive attitude. I don't think she even knew the word "no"...she would do anything for anyone. She shared so much with us, from her joy of scrapbooking (which she was awesome at!!) to her fabulous daughter Kayla. Our girls love playing all together, and Kayla is always welcome!! We continue to pray for you Kayla during this time of many adjustments, and for the rest of your family, Bridget. I also pray that one day there will be a cure for this terrible disease that robs us of such wonderful, beautiful people. I will miss you Bridget, but will never forget. Love always!!

Bridget,
You will forever be in my heart, you were a wonderful person and it is true that you never said anything bad about anyone unless they deserved it. Thank you for being my friend and supporting me through all of the hard times for the past 21 years. We shared different lives but we always remained close and never ever had a fight in 21 years. I love you and I will always love and look out for Kayla as she has become part of our family. Go be with Bernard and rest in peace. Love Lisa Hobbs

We all now have a special guardian angel watching over us. She truly touched and changed the lives of everyone that knew her. At the end of every meeting we would say "May the lord watch between me and thee while we are absent one from the other"..! that will now have a special meaning to our entire sorority chapter. Bridget will be truly missed and my thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this difficult time.

Bridget was a wonderful person to be around and positive person whom I never heard say something negative about someone else. She will be missed but not forgotten.

Here is the text of the eulogy I delivered at Bridget's funeral, for all those who weren't in attendance. I think it captures Bridget.

One of my first memories of my sister was from we were kids and she and her friend Joyce would go to AstroWorld. I was younger and badly wanted to go, but they would set off without me, leaving me to pout all day. No matter what kind of sad face I put on, I couldn’t wait until she got home because I knew she’d bring me home a present. Whether it was an oversized pair of sunglasses or a giant pencil, I was always thrilled to see her come home. Now Bridget has left us again, and I know this time she won’t be coming back. It’s hard to believe we won’t see her again or hear her voice, and it will take a long time to heal our pain. She may have lost her fight to cancer, but she is definitely not a victim. Instead, I see her as a winner in this fight because she battled this terrible disease with tremendous courage and bravery for 10 years, always keeping a positive outlook while seldom complaining, though she had every reason to. She was an inspiration to others who had cancer and was always willing to lend support or give advice.

It is during sad times like these when people are remembered for all the good things they did while we ignore the bad, but with Bridget there was no bad. She seldom said a negative word about anybody, and if she did it’s because they probably deserved it. She cared about those who had nothing and wanted to make their lives better. She always asked what she could do for you, not what you could do for her. She did so many things for me it’s impossible to mention them all, but there are a couple that stand out.

There was the time I broke my collarbone playing football when I was 20 years old and snuck into my house late at night because I didn’t want anyone to know. I lay in bed all night in excruciating pain and minute the sun came up, I called Bridget crying, asking her to help me. Only then I knew everything would be OK. Then there was the time when I was a teenager and I wanted to buy my girlfriend at the time a ring for our 1-year anniversary. Of course, I had no money and many probably would have thought it seemed kind of silly, but Bridget quickly transferred a few hundred dollars into my account to buy the ring – a ring that my wife Lisa still wears nearly 18 years later. She was the one we all turned to in times of trouble or sorrow, and today … we need her more than ever.

I’m sure there’s not a person here that won’t miss Bridget dearly, none fewer than me. I’ll miss getting text messages from her during Astros games. I’ll miss calling her and using silly voices. I’ll miss spring breaks at a beach house in Galveston and I’ll never forget her racing into my living on Christmas Eve 2004 to tell everyone it was snowing. I’ll miss her smile, her voice and her big, beautiful eyes. She touched our lives in ways she didn’t realize and we should all strive to be as caring, thoughtful, compassionate and as brave as she was. I’ll search forever for answers why she’s no longer here, but will never find one that satisfies me. But now we must find a way to move on, but not forget. She’ll be remembered as a great mother, a caring daughter and a fun-loving aunt and a friend. I’ll remember her as the best sister a little brother could have and she will forever remain in my heart.

Bridget,
You will be missed so much as you were loved by many. You have touched so many lives with your courage, selflessness, generosity, and, most of all, your smile. You have been a Godly woman and we all know that you are in a place so great that we are unable to comprehend how wonderful it is.

May God lay a healing and comforting hand on Bridget's family and friends.

Kayla, we love you and you are welcome to hang out with us whenever you want!

Bridget taught all who met her how to be. How to be graceful in the eye of the storm. How to be greatful for every day that we have. How to be a true friend in every way. I could go on and on. She will be missed everyday...but her spirit will live on in all who knew her and learned from her. What a legacy she has left.

Bridget, we didn't keep in touch much as we were growing up, probably more down to myself than to you. But we met up again last August & I realised what I'd missed out on over the years.

You were a wonderful person. Never without a smile, even with what you were going through. I'm honoured to have spent those few days with you last year & will never forget them.

You'll be sadly missed by us all and are forever in our thoughts.
