I just came across this news and feel very sad that I am only now learning of it. Bruce was a major person in my career. I met him in 1990 when I was a young associate at a NJ law firm and was assigned to be local counsel for Bruce and his team on a trademark case because I had clerked for a judge in that district. Bruce and I connected and he told me that Baker would be opening a new office in NY within "six months" and encouraged me to apply so I would be the first associate they hired. When the firm finally opened up an office 10 years later I was already well-established. But during those 10 years Bruce was more a mentor to me than virtually any partner in the firms I practiced. He referred me my first ever client and was a braintrust when ever I needed it. He introduced me to many of his contacts and helped me find my way in the trademark bar. We lost touch when Bruce stopped coming to INTA meetings around 2005 but in 2010 I sent him a new years card and he called and we had a long conversation when he told me he had converted to Judaism because of his new wife. (Bruce knew that I was the son of a Rabbi and involved in Jewish life). I have often said that Bruce was one of the invisible people who made all the difference in my career. I cherish his memory and give my condolences to his family. Or zaruah l'tzadik.

I grew up with Bruce in Webster Groves, MO. We are the same age except he is 3 months older. He lived just in the next block directly in back of my next door neighbor's yard. Most yards were open then so I could just cut back to his yard to get to his house. He was from a family of three boys and so was I, although I was the youngest and he the oldest in his family. We both were on the wrestling team in high school. For a time, we dated the same girl in high school. The last time we saw each other was at our high school's 50th reunion about 8 years ago. It was there that I met Robin.
I will miss you, Bruce.
