Bruce Beaird Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 13, 2025.
Bruce Wayne Beaird, 67, passed away on July 8, 2025. He was born on October 15, 1957, in Pasadena, Texas to Charles Edwin "Charlie" Beaird and Mavis Dean Beaird (Overstreet).

A master carpenter and natural-born craftsman, Bruce could build a house from the ground up and make it solid, beautiful, and built to last. His hands and mind were equally skilled he and could fix, create, and problem-solve in ways that made people wonder how he figured it all out.

He was also a brilliant musician who could pick up any instrument and play it like he'd been born with it in his hands. He had a beautiful voice and even played music in Nashville during a season of his life.

In his early days, he was an oil pumper and a guard at the Tennessee State Prison and built most of the early computers for the city of Odessa through one of several businesses he would create. He ran the Rio Theatre in downtown Odessa. Early in life, he had a passion for magic and often created many magical moments - both in and outside of his performances. He was a creator, director, writer and very skilled photographer. He loved to learn.

And if you knew Bruce, you know he loved his cats. He was that old cat man with four cats inside and more than twenty outside at one point (no joke), all of them named, all of them fed. It was one of the many ways he showed his love that was often quiet, consistent, and deeply loyal. He was ornery and could make people laugh, think twice, or scratch their heads. You never quite knew what he was going to say next. Bruce lived life on his own terms independent, sharp, and full of grit. Whether working with wood or an instrument, he had a unique rhythm and way of doing things that was entirely his own. He loved hard and sometimes didn't know the best ways to show it. In his final days, he expressed his love for his family and friends and was ready to be with His heavenly Father and loved ones who had gone before him.

He is survived by his daughter Jacqueline Rudloff of New York, NY, his adopted daughter Haylee McBride of Odessa, TX, his grandsons Chris and Alex Trattles of Lubbock, TX, his brother Larry Beaird (Paula) of Nashville, TN, nephews Eli Beaird (Cori), Aaron Beaird and Jordan Beaird (Portia), and extended family and friends who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mavis Dean Beaird and his beloved daughter Anna Trattles.

Bruce's legacy lives not in fanfare, but in the things he built, the music he played, and the unforgettable impression he left on those lucky enough to really know him. He was one of a kind and the kind you don't forget. He taught his daughters to Love the Lord, be kind, Make it Happen and that the answer was always no if you didn't ask - which is exactly how he tried to live. He was loved by many and will be missed - despite all that orneriness.

Services will be held on July 20, 2025, at Central Baptist Church, 1416 N. Texas Avenue, Odessa, Texas 79761 from 5-7PM- Please park in the back.

I´m grateful the Lord allowed our paths to cross. While we faced our share of challenges, we also shared just as many if not more truly meaningful and joyful moments. I´ll always treasure the memories, especially our visit to the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter. This isn´t goodbye, but rather a heartfelt see you later.
