Louisville - Bruce Allen Butler, 71, of Knoxville, TN passed away on September 10, 2025. Born January 31, 1954, in Findlay Ohio. Bruce was the son of Ellis Olmstead Butler and Mary Elizabeth Brown Butler. He practiced Real Estate Law in Knox County and surrounding counties for many years. He was the manager of the Knoxville branch of First Title Corporation (Atlanta, GA), and worked with other Title Companies in Knoxville, TN area doing title searches and assisting with legal issues during property closings. In his earlier years as an attorney he practiced general law with Sexton, Sexton, Beaty and Seals in Oneida, with the majority of his work conducting real estate title examinations and some trial work. He also practiced law in Oneida with the law firm York and York (Main office Crossville, TN), where the majority of his work was oil and gas title opinions. Bruce was a 1972 graduate of Oneida High School and was Salutatorian of his graduating class. He graduated from The University of Tennessee in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. In 1979 he graduated from The University of Tennessee College of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Ellis Olmstead Butler and Mary Elizabeth Brown Butler (both of Oneida, TN) and his brother Richard Ellis Butler (Jasper, TN). He is survived by his sisters Sally Elizabeth Butler Adcox (Flintstone, GA), Barbara Erin Butler Gillespie and husband David Bruce Gillespie (Louisville, TN): Nieces, Rachel Erin Gillespie and husband Matthew Lemin (Corsicana, TX) and Sarah Michelle Gillespie (Cookeville, TN); sister -in-law, Barbara Joan Webb Butler (Jasper, TN); niece, Jennifer Elizabeth Butler Cartwright (Jasper, TN): great nieces, Hannah Elizabeth Cartwright Walsingham, Leia Elise Cartwright and Abigail Ruth Cartwright (Jasper, TN) and great-great nephew, Andrew Landon Walsingham and nephew William Ellis Butler (Jasper, TN).
