Bruce Edward Carleton

July 24, 1954 - February 15, 2025

Bruce Edward Carleton, 70, passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas, on February 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 24, 1954, in San Antonio, Bruce spent his life in Texas, a place he deeply loved. Though he spent time in both San Antonio and Houston during his childhood, Dallas was always home. A natural leader with a warm heart and a sharp sense of humor, Bruce dedicated 30 years to running operations for Sigel's in Dallas. He was cherished by colleagues and employees alike, known for his kindness, quick wit, and ability to brighten any room.

Bruce was the son of Herbert Eugene "Gene" Carleton and Kathryn "Katie" Elaine Jones Carleton and the younger brother of Herbert "Skip" Carleton Jr., who stood by his side throughout his fight with cancer, and Sharon Carleton Boyd, who preceded him in death in 2016.

On April 5, 1975, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Diane Courie Carleton. Their 54-year journey together was an inspiration to all who knew them. Bruce and Diane were a team; they supported each other in building and achieving a wonderful life filled with love and laughter.

A devoted father, Bruce is survived by his children: Laura Carleton Fields (Micah Fields), Jill Carleton Egal (Stephen Egal), and Stephen Edward Carleton (Nolan Parsley Carleton). His greatest joy came from being "Papa" to his seven grandchildren: Sam, Will, and Carly Fields; Claire and Kathryn Egal; and Weston and Porter Carleton. Bruce shared a unique and special bond with each of them-equal parts mentor and friend. He knew how to make them laugh, how to listen, and how to guide them without ever telling them what to do. He was endlessly proud of who they were as individuals and loved them deeply.

Bruce will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who always put family first. He had an effortless sense of humor - funny without trying - and a warm personality. He embraced life with a "work hard, play hard" mentality and had a huge heart for both family and friends. A gifted golfer, avid lakegoer, and devoted Golden-doodle dad, Bruce found peace and happiness at his lake house on Cedar Creek, where he spent countless days on the water, soaking in the beauty of life with loved ones.

A celebration of Bruce's life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 11122 Midway Road, Dallas, Texas 75229, with a reception to follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bruce's honor to Good Shepherd.

Bruce's charm, humor, and deep love for his family will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. His memory will live on in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the love he instilled in all of us.

I am sorry not to be there in person today. Bruce was a mentor in many ways to me early in my career, and he was always one of my favorite customers. We always had a great time together and he is part of most of my best memories of the "early days". Although we lost touch over the years, I have always admired his generosity, sincerely, and great wit. He was a wonderful man, and is greatly missed already. With my deepest respect and condolences to the family.

We had many great times with Bruce and will miss his jokes, laughter and fun times. Got to spend quality time with him in Dallas, at Cedar Creek Lake and RED ROCKS in Colorado! Bruce was a stud and will definitely be missed. I took this pic on our trip to see WSP - I bet he is hanging out there from time to time.
