This was a shock for me to read this. I had no idea of his passing. I only met Bruce a couple of times but a person to remember. He was so kind and always smiling and willing to lend a hand. I send my deepest sympathies to his daughter Josie and to his family a friends. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered.

Kara & Josie
Bruce's passing has left a big hole in our hearts. There never was a more caring giving person. We think of him every time we play crib - how he enjoyed the game. We know you have lots of very special memories as he filled your lives with his love - may those memories help you through these tough days.

Words can not express the heartache I have been feeling this past week. And being so far away from friends who share this pain has made it even harder.
Many of my greatest moments in life include Bookers & Bruce, he gave me so many great opportunities to do different things, especially when it came to promoting my favorite restaurant. I truly loved working for him.
He was a tough guy with a kind heart and a gentle soul, who loved his friends and adored his family.
All the best of Bruce will live on in his daughter Josie & his beloved staff/friends at Bookers.
I am honored to have known him and will always remember him with a smile.
Dear Josie, just know, your Daddy will forever be your guardian angel, watching over you and gently guiding you through life. I know this, cause my Daddy has been doing the same for me the last 21 years.
My heart goes out to all those who are hurting right now. I'm thinking of you and wish I could be there to hug you.
Thank you for everything Bruce, I will miss you but never forget you!
Rest in Peace my friend.

Words cannot express how we feel for all those touched by Bruce's death. To his family and those who loved him, may you heal quickly and remember him vividly. To all those fortunate enough to call him "friend", keep him close by sharing the best of your memories over and over.

Bruce, you are a great boss, a great person and a great friend. I feel very lucky to have spent time with you in Parksville and had the chance to see the generous person behind the tough exterior. My heart goes out to your family. You will be missed dearly.

Although I am many miles away on exchange, my heart goes out to the many who knew and loved Bruce. This is a devestating loss-especially to his family at home and his family at Booker's. I only got to work with Bruce for one summer, but he was a great manager and was always looking to help his staff. Bruce was the guy making sure everyone was having a great time at Booker's, whether they were just stopping in for lunch or partying for Stampede. He will be missed by all.

Claypool I am without words. We went through a lot you and I. What i always loved about you is that despite trying to portray the rough and tough exterior, you had a good heart. You were always at your best with Josie. That's what i loved about you most.

What can I say about Bruce other than he was a great man. He was so much more than just a boss to me. He was always there to lend a helping hand, and tell a joke to help you get through the hard times. I had the pleasure of working with him for the past 8 years and I wll miss him forever. I vow to help keep his dream of Bookers alive as long as I possibly can. My heart goes out to Josie, Kara, Ang and the rest of his family. All of us at Bookers are always her for you if ever you need anything..

Bruce, you were a heck of a guy. I was amazed at how quickly you accepted people as your friend. You elevated the field of play with all that new you and I appreciate that!
Although I only had the opportunity to play golf a couple of times with you, the experience was grand. Thanks for the memoriesl Sad to see you go , buddy.

Bruce
My heart is heavy as I try and express my thoughts about a friend. Bruce was one of a kind. He always made you feel special and would give you the shirt off his back, as was the case one memorable night at a Booker Mardi Gras party. Bruce was happiest when others were having fun and he always had smile and a cold beer ready for a friend. I am happy to have known Bruce and will try carry on his personality of making others feel special. You will be sorely missed

Bruce, I only knew you for one weekend of golf in Sicamous, BC. I quickly was enchanted by your leadership and fun, and consider you a buddy. I was so looking forward to meeting you again for the event this year. What a guy! You will be sadly missed.

Writing about Bruce in the past tense is probably the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Bruce was so much more than a friend to me. He has taught me so much over the past 17 years, and was always there for me. Bruce was more like an older brother than a friend, which has made this even harder. I will cherish the many great memories I have of Bruce forever.
My thoughts and prayers are with Josie, Kara and the rest of his family during these difficult times.
Thank you Bruce for all of the great memories, I love you and will always miss you.

Bruce was affectionately nicknamed "Dad" by many of his staff. Anyone who has been fortunate enough to have a great dad in their life will instantly understand why we loved to refer to him as such. Dads govern, which Bruce tried to do in order to run his business. The best part is that, like many dads, this was usually trumped by his gentle heart. He loved us, and we knew it from many of his subtle actions and words. I am happy in this time of sadness to realise all I can remember are wonderful stories of him. That is a true testament to him. Thank you for sharing your Dad with us Josie and we'll always be here to help you remember him.

Where does one begin. Bruce was my manager at Bookers for many years. Quickly we became good friends, it was hard not to be his friend he was just that type of guy. Wow did we have good times, many laughs and I am sure a few cries...Bruce was that person that you could always count on, he would help you in any way he could.
I know his daughter will grow always knowing the person her father was. As many new Bruce and from their stories she will always remember.
My deepest sympathies go out to his family. With love.

Bruce was more then a friend - he was family! You didn't have to know him well to know that his gving nature extended to everyone he knew. Whether it was an ear to listen to you or someone to laugh with; in times of need he was always there to help. The simply beautiful aspect about Bruce was that he was a surivor and a leader! He operated on his own free will, giving and giving; never asking for anything in return and always loving his little sweetheart Josie.
To sit back and watch him operate was remarkable. He was a rock for everyone. That is why we consider ourselves so lucky to have had the priveledge of seeing Bruce behind the scenes. He spent holidays with us and even participated in a perogie cook off against our little Ukrainan Baba (grandma). We can think of endless stories that bring smiles to our face and that is how we will remember Bruce. Everyone who knew him appreciated different aspects of this amazing man. To us, he turned into one of our best friends and someone we will truly miss having in our lives.
This is by far the greatest loss we have had to face. Never has a loss had the degree of impact as losing Bruce. Our heart goes out to Kara, Josie, Ang and all of his family at this time and in the days ahead. Bruce, we love you and we'll always miss you!

Kara, Josie and Angie,
Though I am many miles away, I have felt your loss deep in my soul. I was one of many friends that Bruce meant and shared alot with through the years. He was an incredibly generous man who wore his heart on his sleeve, and cared deeply for those close to him. He has touch my life in many different ways and I know I am like a hundred others in saying that he was one of a kind. Bruce loved you all so very much and always shared that with everyone, you were the world to him. But most of all, he always talked about his Josie and how she was the love of his life, he was a great father. He was a great friend. I (like many others) will always miss him.
With love and respect,
David Knott

To me, Bruce was not only my manager at Bookers for 6 years but quickly became my friend. I will always have fond memories of him from my years working at his restaurant especially his infectious laugh and his passion for making the restaurant a better place. People came to Bookers for the "experience" and Bruce was a large part of that experience. I am so sad that he is gone and that Josie will not know the generous and caring man that was her Dad. My heart goes out to Josie and the rest of Bruce's family in this very, very sad time. I will miss you always......
