Bruce Harry Donald, 65, passed away on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at his home on Bainbridge Island, Wash. He was born on March 12, 1947, in West Palm Beach, Fla. Bruce lived in Glen Ellyn, Ill., for the past 14 years and recently moved to Bainbridge Island with his family.
Bruce worked in print, paper, packaging and promotional sales. He was a member of the Godfathers Club in San Francisco, Calif., and BNI and Rotary Club International in Wheaton, Ill. Bruce always thought of Farmington as his second home and he loved to come help his mother, Joyce Donald with the production of the Fourth of July parade.
"Think with your head, love with your heart and work with your hands" was the motto he lived fervently throughout his life. Whether it be creating one of his new ideas, lending a hand to someone in need, or working to make sure that those he loved were taken care of, he always practiced what he preached. A man with a heart larger than he let on and a spirit softer than he would like to admit, Bruce was the most caring of husbands, most loving of sons and strongest of fathers.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Lee Abell-Donald, of Bainbridge Island, Wash. his son, Chase Nicholas Donald, of Bainbridge Island, Wash. his mother, Joyce Lee Donald, of Farmington and his very special angel dog, Jersey Noel.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Harry Merchant Donald, and his sister, Diane Martin.
A memorial service for Bruce will be 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, at the First Presbyterian Church, 865 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington. The service will be followed by a light supper buffet at the church.
