I was a Canadian living in Scotland for 16 years. In 2013 we moved back to Canada. That summer I saw Bruce Guthro perform with Runrig in front of Edinburg castle with a beautiful blue sky behind it. I had tears streaming down my face because I knew I was going to miss living Scotland so much. Runrig and Bruce´s voice takes me back to that time. Forever in my heart. RIP

Hello all,
My first memory of Bruce was of him reaching into my body and squeezing the air out of my lungs with the song "Falling". It's still one of my all-time favourite songs, and I will forever be listening to his incredible and evocative voice and lyrics, thanks to his recordings. That man was the most amazing story teller! Rest peacefully. Sending hugs and love to Kim, Jodi, and Dylan.

Bruce's amazing voice on his first Runrig concert. And the final speech he made at the last dance in Stirling.
Thoughts go out to Bruce's family, Band mates and friends. xx

Leading those amazing song writer´s circles. His talent and humour as evident in "Impeachment"....brilliant.
My Mom and Dad were born in St Joseph du Moine, Cape Breton. My beloved father took ill with a malignant brain tumour at 47 years old. Although with surgery, he lived another 13 years, he was never quite the same. His death impacted my life and those of my siblings in ways we never even imagined and he is still terribly missed. He now sits on my right shoulder and I talk to him all the time, even asking him for advice from time to time. I always know what he will say and it is truly comforting, to even imagine he is with me.
My hearts go out to the whole Guthrie family!

My first memory of Bruce was seeing him coming down a fairway riding in a golf cart with the Trailer Park Boys. He came over to the luxury bus i was driving and sat & talked about his career. We became friends and did not see him due to his busy schedule but managed to see him at the Songwriters Circle several times. A great singer/ songwriter but through all his success a very humble & generous man. Bon Voyage Bruce. We will never forget you.

Bruce accepted my invitation to be a special guest and speaker at a fundraiser for Parker Street at the Halifax Club a few years back. He then joined my friend Neil and I in the piano room for a few tunes. Humble, friendly, and so generous. He went above and beyond for the cause. Rest well my brother from another mother.

My very first encounter with Runrig was the year that Bruce joined the band.
They were playing in my hometown of Odense in Denmark, on a lovely Summer evening. This should be just one of many, many times, Bruce visited Denmark which he came to love and returned to, after the band had said goodbye to us.
I will always remember Bruce that evening.
His energy, obvious joy of performing and ability to connect with us, right from the first song.
And that song was Maymorning.
That is his song, more than any of all the wonderful songs, the band gave us.
It is full of life and beaty, of the simple things of life that makes one feel everything so intense.
He was jumping and dancing on the stage and letting his energy out to us as if he had always been with Runrig.
The match was there.
From the beginning.
He wore a red band around his forehead, keeping his long, very dark hair in place and he looked almost exotic.
He was Bruce Guthro.
He was our friend.
Rest in peace Bruce...
Thank you for all of your songs and your music.
A devoted fan,
Inge Dorthea.
