Bruce Allen Hyma

I worked with Dr. Hyma in the late 80s at the Miami-Dade MEs office. I remember how everyone loved and respected him, from colleagues to researchers, to religious representatives to family members.
It´s been many years since then, but I still think of him when I see curious forensic cases. I always think of how Dr. Hyma would´ve approached it and figured it out.
He is still missed and still thought of. I hope his family is doing well. Sending love to his family and to all who knew him.

Dr. Hyma inspired me to "see" beyond my day to day at work, and carefully examine the nuances of abnormal behavior and substance use disorders as I respond to psychiatric emergencies in inner city communities. From the day I met him in 2010, during his week long PMDI training right thru to this very day - he will never be forgotten. I was shocked to hear of his passing after looking him up yesterday about other training opportunities. He is missed, cherished, and an ever lasting spirit to all. Godspeed friend, Mark Hutton

I worked as a Forensic Technician with Dr. Hyma in the mid 1990s. He was a really nice guy, very friendly and down to earth. I'm very sorry to hear about this. I just now did a Google search to see if he was still working at the Dade County Medical Examiner and I found this obituary. Quite a shock. My condolences to his family.

Bruce was a wonderful man who exemplified the meaning of compassion, dignity and honor. It was a pleasure knowing and working with him. Rest in Peace my friend.

Dr. Hyma will be greatly missed by all of us who had the pleasure and honor of working with him. He was the consummate professional. He was always available to help us.

Dear Jan and family: My heart breaks for you all with the loss of Bruce. I know his battle has been determined and long...but he is finally at peace and perfect with the Lord. But our family knows the pain of losing a husband/father....I am here for you anytime. You are such a strong woman and each time I would run into you and you would share about Bruce's battle, I came away thinking how amazing you are....the "glue" in the family.
