OMG...I was his student in Manhattan Voc. Tech hs in the mid to late 70's. He was my history teacher. We became close friends afterward. He even drove me up to Buffalo university to settle me up in my dorm. A good friend of the family. I haven't heard from him in years. The last time I saw him was at the Big A racetrack for a few race and get together. I am sadden by this news. Anyone know the cause of this?

I only came across Bruce's passing the other day. I'm a satellite-radio subscriber, so I don't listen too much to the FAN these days. What a bummer to learn of Bruce's passing. As The Fan nears its 30th anniversary as the first all-sports-radio station in the country, Bruce, along with Doris Bauer and Vinnie from Queens, will all go down as the most venerable and entertaining callers in the station's storied history. Thanks, Bruce for all of those great chimes. My condolences to his significant others, and to all of the listeners who enjoyed his phone calls.

I have nothing but wonderful memories of growing up with Bruce in nearby St. James Park in the Bronx. Sports was our addiction, playing, viewing in person and on TV, and discussing, i.e., arguing. Laughter was a major ingredient of our daily routine. That he was able to share his knowledge and humor with many others will always bring a smile to my face. If only Cleveland had won!

Bruce was third place caller on the fan. Put his name up my

Funny how this world works huh. I am upset by the loss of this man I never met. Think about it, how many calls from Bruce we all heard over the years? 1000's?. I feel like I knew this man personally. I gave up FM and went full WFAN around 1990. That's a lotta calls.
RIP Bruce, I can hear your choppy voice and your laugh as I type this. Go Tribe!!!!!

While it was often tough to make out what he was saying, due to bad phone connection probably, I would make special efforts to listen since his calls were usually spot on -- insightful, good historical perspective, and often funny. One of the very, very best of the FAN frequent callers. He will be missed. Rest in peace, Bruce.

As a longtime WFAN employee, I knew Bruce as a part of the colorful mosaic of voices that contributed to our broadcasting success. Opinionated and passionate, knowledgeable and sincere, Bruce was a true sports fan and part of the extended family of WFAN employees and listeners. His silence diminishes us all. We can be comforted by the fact that his voice, as part of our radio transmission, will forever travel through the universe, as vibrant as it ever was, as he secures his place in all eternity. Rest in Peace.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bruce from Bayside years ago for the service of a fellow WFAN caller Doris Bauer the Mets fan from Rego Park and also at Umberto's Clam House in Little Italy a year after that. I always loved his calls on WFAN, corny at times, but never insulting. We have lost a good man but I know he's in Heaven watching his beloved Cleveland Indians go for the pennant. May he rest in peace. From a fellow FAN caller and Mets fan.
