I met Bruce once at a Business Manager's meeting in Panama City, FL. He was a great story teller and funny. He shined a great example of what happens when you stick to one thing.

I don't have words for how I feel about this news. I had just started working in Macon and had a family emergency. Bruce was the angel sent by ALL MIGHTY at my time of need. Bruce, my family and I will forget what you did for us and will always pray for your wonderful family.

Bruce was a powerhouse of wisdom, kindness, humor and success. He and his wonderful family set an incredibly high bar and he will be greatly missed and impossible to forget. He was always positive and I miss his smile deeply. Thanks for the many memories and God bless.

I only knew Bruce for a couple of years, but he spoke to me as if we had been friends for ages. His impact on me will be everlasting. Dale, I'm thinking of you and the boys. Peace.

There was never any mistaking who had arrived at the club when that tall, lanky frame and deep booming voice hustled through the pro shop. "Hey darlin, I need some golf balls, wutcha got?" But most noticeable among Mr. McKee's characteristics was the size of his heart. He went well out of his way to make me feel welcome in a realm I'd entered having very little experience. It was an honor serving him and he will sorely missed.

Dale,

You have my deepest sympathy and condolences. My sons and I throughly enjoyed the years we spent together with you, Bruce and all of your wonderful "T" sons during Hoover East Baseball back in 2001. Back then, we would spend nights together talking at the games, in the cold and Bruce would wear his favorite jacket and entertain us with his stories. My sons, Kameron, Kasey and Karden Dickerson loved having the coolest team moms. We offer our Prayers to you and your family.

I had the pleasure of knowing Bruce for 11 year while I was the Golf Professional at Riverchase Country Club. Bruce always brought a smile to everyone in his presence. He was always positive even after a rough round of golf. Bruce taught me so many things maybe without knowing. Bruce will be missed by many but certainly not forgotten.

Bruce was and always will be one of the most influential men in my life. I knew him for over 9 years. He taught me, through his actions, that attitude makes the biggest difference in one's success. He would have given the clothes off his back for me, or anyone else for that matter. I will never forget one day about 6 years ago when Bruce gave me 5 of his business suits. I still wear them for good luck to this day. His spirit is still very much with us....

Thanks for being there for all of us, Bruce!

This news hit me hard. Bruce meant so much to me, as he did to many others. I worked with Bruce for 5 years. I left Alabama a different person from when I arrived. Bruce not only taught me skills only Bruce can teach, he made me a better person. I will always remember how Bruce took me and my family into his home and into his life, he made this NJ guy feel welcome in the South! Bruce was not only a strong leader, he was one of the warmest, kindest and most generous people I have met. I loved just going into his office to just talk. I am going to miss the big guy, but I know he is doing in heaven what he did here.

For almost 2 years Bruce would ask me a couple times a week, when I was going to come work for him. I was a single mom of 3, working 3.5 jobs and was scared to leave the job I had been with for over 10 years. It was a good job, good benefits but he knew there was something more for me. One day I just starting writing my two week notice to my boss at that job I was scared to leave, the whole time asking God, Why are you letting me do this? Why are you telling me to do this? I don't have another FT job, I have not seen Bruce is several weeks what if he never asks again? I turned in my notice, and that night Bruce walked right up to me and said 'my office this week'. 'Someone will call you, be there'. He smiled, kissed my cheek and left. Well the next 10 years of my life were spent working with Bruce and his awesome team at 5599. He taught me things that no one else could have. He gave me confidence and stood by me in the good and bad of my life. Now, I didn't have the proper degree to do what I was doing but he said here you get paid for you can do, not what a piece of paper in a frame on the wall says you should be able to do. When God told me it was time to move on, my heart broke at the thought of leaving but knew I had been obedient when God put Bruce in my life and lead me there and I needed to be obedient now. Lots of tears, a few laughs and that well known kiss on the cheek as he thanked me for doing what he hired me to do. That was about 13 years ago and for several years Bruce continued to check in on me occasionally, always asking about my girls, my life. I still have the picture he and my daughter Taylor drew sitting in my office, which he framed of course. Have Peace my friend and thanks for the lessons learned. Kim Doss

I had the pleasure to work with and know Bruce for over 25 years. I'm thankful for all the valuable lessons he taught me. He was a mentor to me and many others along the way. His door was always open to give advice or have a philosophical discussion. I have witnessed his impact on several lives, by helping when he saw his employees in need both in their professional and personal lives. He was a humble, caring, compassionate man that truly renewed faith in the human spirit.
Bruce always said, Don't ever forget where you came from & Do the right thing for the right reasons.
His passion for life, inspiration & great leadership motivated many to excel in their careers. He created a special formula for success & that was his unique talent! He was a true leader, mentor, friend, and visionary. I smile when I hear, Are you having fun yet? He always wanted us to have a fun place to work and take care of our E family. In our hearts, he will always be known as the Founding Father of GP55! I will miss his smiling face! To Dale and the boys, Thank you for sharing him with us!
Until I see you again, Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler my friend in heaven!
Love you much!

Bruce McKee had a great knack for making people feel welcome. He was a very cultured, warm, and extremely nice man who tried to bring out the best in others. He was generous to a fault, and always shared his wealth. Once during the fall of 2000, he invited the entire Enterprise Car Sales department and their spouses to a formal dinner at the Summit Club on the 40th floor of the Harbert Tower, complete with steaks and fine wine with the sun going down on Saturday night in the Magic City. Bruce McKee also sponsored frequent golf outings for ERAC employees, and Barons baseball games complete with cookouts and cold beverages that were always on the house. In exchange for his generosity, he would demand that his employees bring their best work every day to Enterprise, make as much money as possible, and have fun doing it. He was one of the best coaches that I have ever met in my life. I hope that his family works as hard as he did. They will be very successful people. He would want that for them more than anything.

I knew Bruce for 15 years, through business. Bruce was a mentor to me & always gave me great advice, he became a dear friend & always told me to do the right thing, but always had a story behind his advice. Everybody that knew him; was privileged to know him & also knew he was bigger than life. Bruce always made me laugh & was such a wise man. The world has lost a wonderful, beautiful spirit & all that knew him, will miss him. Many prayers to Dale & the boys, he has left a great legacy to many.

During a rough patch, Bruce came to dinner with our team. He took me outside and said, "Krausey, Buddy, I know it's tough, but do what you've always done. Take care of your people, manage from the heart, and have fun! You'll be fine!" He always reminded to do the simplest thing...the right thing.

I am grateful to have worked for Bruce early in my career at Enterprise in Birmingham. So full of life and always available to anyone and everyone who needed to talk. He was a mentor, coach and cheerleader. He was always consistent in his advice. Do what is right. Simple. Loved him for that. Dale, my heart breaks for you and the boys. Thanks for sharing him with us for all these years. He will be greatly missed.

I can think of a few of Bruce's stories that have always stuck with me. Stories about his kids, his long career, funny stories, and advise about managing trying times, but more than anything, I can't ever say "hey buddy" to anyone, without hearing it in my head, the way Bruce always said it. May God bless you, and keep you Bruce.

So much to say!! I was so young when my ERAC career started in 1997. I met Bruce at admin as I started my career there at and I always said to myself "that's the coolest guy in the building" and I never even knew who he was. Very kind, always spoke and had encouraging things to say in regards to my future, not just with ERAC but life in general. One day in 1998 he asked me if i was interested in a promotion opportunity. Couldn't believe it and honestly and didnt know much about it but I interviewed for a position in car sales and got the job. Many years later I received multiple promotions and had started a fruitful career under his leadership. Over the years Bruce and I got really close. He was a boss, mentor, shoulder and many times a father figure. Recently he coached me through an extensive interview process that helped me land the job I currently have today. He recently told me how much he appreciated me for always answering the bell when called and I couldn't help but say the same right back to him because he always answered when I rang my bell. He was more than just a friend to me and I will have so many wonderful memories. I will always Love u "BUDDY"
