BRUCE JAMES
Of Glenshaw, on Saturday, November 5, 2016. Loving husband of Kathleen Newmeyer; father of Kristin (Peter) Stumm and Kara (Scot) Hoffmann; beloved Papa to Sophie, Anna, Mia and Ava; brother-in-law to Michael (Cindy) Patty, the late Jon Patty, Eric (JoAnn) Patty, Steven Patty and Maureen (Brian) VerVaet. Also survived by many admiring nieces and nephews. Bruce was born in Castle Shannon on October 27, 1944, to the late George and Alice Buesker Newmeyer; brother of the late Fr. George C. Newmeyer; and sister of Nancy (Paul) Gordon. He graduated from South Hills Catholic and Duquesne University. He then served in the US Army and then worked as a manufacturing engineer. Bruce truly loved life and lived it to the fullest. He touched many during his service in the military and was happiest helping others or spending time with family. A man of great integrity, Bruce leaves behind a wonderful legacy. Family will welcome visitors at BOCK FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday in St. Bonaventure Church, Glenshaw at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Bonaventure Church, 2001 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA 15116 or Elfinwild Meals at Home Program at 3200 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA 15116.

I work at Pittsburgh North Golf Club where Bruce played every Wednesday. He was a true gentleman and a wonderful human being. We will all miss him.

We can imagine how difficult it must be to say goodbye to your husband or dad. Bruce always had a smile for everyone, and he would call out a hello whenever he saw you. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

I attended Duquesne with Bruce. We had ROTC together and we played golf many times. He went into the Army before me and we kept in touch through the mail. I went to Vietnam after him. He was a good friend and I am truly sorry to hear about his passing. May he rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with Kathy, Kristin, and Kara at this difficult time. Mr. Newmeyer always had a smile for me! He was just a genuinely nice person. I fondly remember all the awesome birthday cakes he made and carpool trips in the blue bug. I have a great picture I need to look for of him dancing at my wedding. Love to you all!

I went to Grade School at St. Ann School, High School at South Catholic and College at Duquesne with Bruce He was a good man and a good friend.
