Bruce L. Peterson, age 86, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020, from complications related to COVID-19. Born in Chicago on November 5, 1934 to the late Charles and Anna Peterson. Bruce was a 1952 graduate of Lane Tech High School. Following military service in the Army, he began a 37-year career with Illinois Bell Telephone. Bruce raised his family in Chicago's Edgebrook neighborhood and is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sharon, his sons David (Beth) and Paul (Joan), and his grandchildren, Alex, Nicole, Michael, Ryan, William, and twins Charlie and Fiona. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Evelyn Reese. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Bruce's caregiver, Tee. Services private. Arrangements by Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie, IL. A memorial service for Bruce will be planned for a later date. The death of this great man weighs heavy on my heart.
He was an influence on my career with Illinois Bell/Ameritech as well as the careers of others. My condolences to his family of which he always spoke proudly. He will be missed and not forgotten. May he Rest In Peace.

My deepest sympathy to the family, Bruce was my Second level supervisor in the 1980s and the one that I respected the most, he was a man of Integrity, fair and honest. I was lucky enough to have your husband/father as my first boss as a rookie manager. That was 48 years ago and he's still etched in my memory as one of the best leaders I've ever had. His ethics, humor, professionalism, and human compassion stood the test of time and served as examples I always tried to duplicate.
He truly stood heads above the rest when ti came to being a great role model.
He will be missed!
