Bruce R. Porterfield

Bruce R. Porterfield, 66, of Rector, passed away Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 23, 1948, in Rector, a son of Viola Ankney Porterfield, of Rector, and the late Delmar J. Porterfield. Bruce was a honest, hard working man of "True Grit" and even to his death he put his loved ones before himself. Bruce was a veteran of the Navy, having served in the Vietnam War. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Barron Porterfield; and a brother, Richard Porterfield. He is survived by his three children, two daughters, Rebecca Porterfield and Joseph Keslar, of Mt. Pleasant, and Julie Porterfield and Bill Clipper, of Champion; a son, Matthew Miller and Sonia, of Acme; five grandchildren, Riley, Barren, Natalie, Michaela and Carmondy; brothers and sisters, Delmer Porterfield and Rosie, of Stahlstown, Donna Fetter and Gary, of Latrobe, Martin Porterfield and Rita, of Stahlstown, Bob Porterfield and Candy, of Mansville, Randy Porterfield and Marsha, of Maryland, Melissa Monticue and Bob, of Mansville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services for Bruce were private and are under the direction of SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 402 E. Church St., Ligonier.
