Mr Roney was my Grades 5 and 7 teacher. He was also a friend of my brother Ken. He was a great teacher and we all had fun learning from him. My grandchildren are amazed at how quickly I can do math in my head it’s all thanks to Mr Roney.

In a world where differences are now used to instill fear, generate intolerance, and separate us; I often think back to the multicultural pot-luck dinners at my elementary school and am grateful that Mr. Roney was the principal there. Among his many accomplishments is the way in which he inspired a generation--or two--to be kind, to be inclusive, to be compassionate. I remember him as a kind and gentle man, always helping students and parents. He did much to bring the community together, and many of his former students owe our positive world-views to him. The face of education has changed dramatically and I am sure that it's because educators now lack these and other values, and/or are not permitted to teach them. What a blessing he was to everyone he met. Thank you, Mr. Roney.

A great pleasure to know and work with Bruce at CNIB. Sharing our Monday afternoon/evening break and listening to his stories was always a treat.

Bruce was gentleman in the finest sense of the word. I knew him through Amateur Radio but we also had another thing in common - the world of education. Both of us had been school principals and we enjoyed sharing "war stories" about our experiences in the trenches of education.

Truly sorry to hear the sad news. I always enjoyed our time together at ARP Board meetings. I always told Bruce I went to the meetings only because I so enjoyed hearing him speak! I cannot attend as I will be in Ireland
Sincere regrets

On behalf of the CNIB Amateur Radio Program, I would like to express our sincere condolences to Sharon and his family. His dedication and commitment to our board and members was incredible. He sacrificed his time to create audio newsletters, record magazines and manuals for radios. He commented that he had to lock himself in a room for 3 days to record a monthly magazine in audio format each month. His dedication to working with the board of directors as a senior member was appreciated by everyone. He always had new ideas to bring to the table. He picked me up at 6:30am on a Saturday to sell used equipment at a flea market. This was one of our best fundraising activities. I also saw him on Monday afternoons at the CNIB as a volunteer reader in the library. He had a voice quality that was well suited to both activities. He also talked to me a lot about fly fishing. Bruce is now a SK (Silent Key)- 73 de Randy VE3WRN Manager, CNIB Amateur Radio Program.
