Linda, we were shocked to learn about Bruce from Jan Rhodes. I'm the travel agent that arranged your cruises on Seabourn in 2007 and Silversea in 2006. Early in 2008, Bruce emailed me to obtain information about other destinations that he hoped to visit someday. We are saddened that Bruce's life was cut short, and we will remember you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
Our deepest sympathy,
Jan and Ken Peterson

Dear Linda and girls - it has been forever since we last saw one another - but we will certainly remember the great times in CA when Bruce was at Cal. We are saddened to hear of his passing-he was a wonderful man, husband, father, coach and friend.
We are holding you all in our prayers -
With love, Muffin, Paul and Dana Vallely

I'll always appreciate Bruce Snyder for his help in getting some textbooks returned. When I was a student at Utah State, (and he was head coach), I had some textbooks stolen from the cafeteria. I suspected a football player, but didn't know whom. I notified my journalism professor, who then phoned Snyder to explain the situation and asked for his help. Within a couple days I had my textbooks back. Apparently Coach Snyder announced to the entire team that he expected whomever had "borrowed" those textbooks to return them. He could have easily said, "Gee, I'm sorry about that" and done nothing more, but he didn't, and I'll always be impressed with that.

Wishing the family many prayers and strength. Bruce did great things in his life...for that we must celebrate and not forget.

What you did for us behind closed doors, out of the media's spotlight, oftentimes unrelated to football is what made you a great Coach and a great man. I owe so much to you. Thank you for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime and for helping me become a man.

Taking my son to the games to watch you coach the Devils, he had dreams of being part of YOUR team. Watching his face when he met you on Fan Photo Day, was like a boy seeing Santa for the first time. Thank you for all the memories. You will forever be part of our lives.

I have a picture of you hanging on my wall, holding my grand daughter at an ASU celebration following the 1997 Rose Bowl. The picture has always made me think of all the joy you brought to me, to ASU and to Arizona. The picture has more meaning now. I am so glad that you were able to be recognized for all the good you have done last year at the Hall of Fame Game, a game I am so grateful to have been in attendance for. You will be missed. My prayers and thoughts go to your family.
You will always be a "SunDevil"!

Thank you coach, for all your work. I was fortunate enough to see most of the games of that magical 1996 season, and will never forget the joy and excitement of that time. My husband and I participated in the first Pat's Run, and were so happy to see you cheering the participants on at the end of the race. It was wonderful to see you back at ASU. Our thoughts are with you and your family

Coach Snyder, you were a phenomenal person who I always held in the highest regard. You genuinely cared about every player you coached and we all knew it. A year after you left the program I was named 2nd team Pac 10 Academic and you took the time to send me a HAND WRITTEN letter of congratulations. You were never too busy to do something for one of your players, former or current. That meant a lot, along with all the other things you did for me. You've left an indelible mark on countless lives and can be assured you will never be forgotten.

To the Snyder family,
It was an honor working for coach. I cherish the many years that he was at ASU. He may have been a devil, but today he is a saint. Growing up in an Irish family, I have learned many sayings, on is an Irish Blessing:
May the roadrise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sunshine warm upon your face,
and the rains fall soft upon your fields.
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Sending a hanful of heart's to Coach Snyder and his family

To my Dear Snyder family
If Tears Could Build A Stairway
If tears could build a stairway
And Memories were a lane
We could walk right up to Heaven
And bring you back again
No farewell words were spoken
There was no time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God really knows why
Our hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know
But know we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
And remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store
Uncle Brucie you will never be forgotten
We pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts
Is where you will always stay
We love you!

My condolences to the Synder family! He was a great coach, but more importantly a great man. As an alumni and sun devil fan one of my greatest memories is that 19-0 victory over the Cornhuskers! What a great season that was! I hope all the family was there last year & witnessed the appreciation fans gave him at half time. It was truly deserved and he will always be appreciated by me for not just being a great coach but a great man! THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!!!

I liked you from the start. It was the first time I met you at an athletic meeting; first of the year. I came from a University where we couldn't even get the head football coach to come to a staff meeting. Someone asked all coaches to share their thoughts of the upcoming season. When they came to you, you stood up and said, "I'm scared to death." I had never witnessed such unabashed honesty in a head football coach. I liked you from the start.

I still remember going to Fan Photo Day before the 96 season and asking Coach Snyder, are we going to win the Rose Bowl this year. Summer camp, 1991.
A talent-loaded Cal team poised for a breakout season on the national scene, arguably one of the best ever in school history... yet somehow letting the hype and promise get to their heads and fast becoming lackadaisical before the season even started. I was a student manager at the time and I'll never forget the speech coach gave about the "Uncommon Man" --about the man who gets up every morning day in and out, and does hard, not-so-glorious work, without complaint or self-pity or self-centeredness, who doesn't neglect the little things, so that he can be all he can be to those who are depending on him... it changed the course of the entire 10 win season, where we barely lost to eventual co-national champions Washington and went on to thrash ACC champion Clemson in the Citrus Bowl. You yourself, Coach, were a living example of the uncommon man. God bless you and your family.
Go Bears!!!
Rest in peace Coach.

Being a former player at Cal for Coach Snyder, what I'll remember most is how much Coach cared for his players, and how important it was for him to teach winning values to his players. He knew if we practiced these ideals in our lives, then the winning would come. And it did, not only on the football field, but also in life. I thank you Coach Snyder for your efforts and caring. You will be greatly missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
God Bless, and may you rest in peace.

You can tell a quality person by the comments from those whose lives they've affected. All the lives he has touched speaks for itself. I had the pleasure and privilege to know Bruce during his coaching career at ASU. I had followed his career for some time and knew he would be a success at ASU. And that he was. I had written to him and he responded and even provided game tickets for when I visited ASU. I had the opportunity to work for two Pro Football Hall of Fame coaches, George Allen and Hank Stram, and Bruce could measure up to either of them, not only as a coach but as a person. He cared about his players and they cared about him. He was respected in his profession and in life.
My condolences go to his family. He left us too early.
