Bruce Warner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 4 to May 11, 2023.
Captain Bruce Warner, husband, father, scripturalist, scientist, businessman, fisherman and friend, went home to be with his heavenly father on May 4, 2023. Born in Waterloo, Iowa in 1941, Bruce grew up in Spencer, Iowa, fishing and hunting with his beloved father, Carroll Warner. Bruce studied science at South Dakota State, completing his undergraduate degree there. He went on to complete post graduate work on a National Science Foundation fellowship at the University of Iowa. He taught high school chemistry, biology, and earth science in Okoboji, Iowa from 1964-1969 and served on the lake patrol. Bruce married Jayna Casper in 1962, and together they shared three daughters, whom he loved very much. Bruce and Jayna owned/operated the Plaza Bowl in Sioux City, Iowa from 1969-1976, and the Country Shoppes in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho from 1976-1982. Bruce moved to Homer, Alaska in 1982, where he met Vicki, and the two enjoyed 30 years of marriage. He worked four years as program director for the FHA and then as a U.S. Coast Guard licensed fishing chart boat captain. He owned/operated The Halibut Hunter fishing charter boat for 16 years and Alaska Fantastic Fishing guide/charter booking business for 16 years. In recent years, Bruce and Vicki enjoyed living in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, spending time on the lake with each other and their dogs and friends. Bruce enjoyed seeing his letters to the editor published in the local paper and connecting with his close friends. Above all else, Bruce was a Christian, an avid studier of the Holy Scriptures, and a believer. He is preceded in death by his mother Maxine, father Carroll, brother Mark, wife Vicki and her sons. Bruce leaves behind his daughters, Wendi Warner, Jodi Whitfield, and Traci Pierce. On this National Day of Prayer, Bruce's family and friends give thanks for the earthly life of their father and friend and for the peace in knowing that Bruce is now home.

My memory by Rosamae Osterberg- Rosie. Bruce and I went to kindergarten together in 1945. He called me 65 years later and told me how he used to chase me on the playground when we were out for recess. Also, said at nap time he told me he held my hand while we laid on our rugs side by side. I will never forget this. Bruce and I graduated in 1959 and I never had any contact with him until last year in January. This is so special because he called me and talked to me over over and hour and then we started emailing eachother. I miss my emails and my phone calls, it will never be the same. We talked about we would celebrate our birthdays last year and that never happened. I loved Bruce for who he was and how special he was to me. I will miss my emails so much. I'm so thankful he is home with Jesus. I treasure my memories of Bruce. Thank you, Bruce for being my friend ion my late years. Love, Rosie.

So miss the Bible scripture discussions and political insight with Bruce. I met Vicki and Bruce when they camped with their mules at Groom Creek. Years later he emailed suggestions for cabin building, followed with the Bible discussions and our country's leadership. Job and life changes delayed my seeing his graduation to heaven. I look forward to visiting with both Vicki and Bruce one day. God bless his family and friends as they make new memories to share in the future.

I just learned from my friend, Thixton "T" Miller of Capt Bruce´s passing. I had the pleasure of fishing with him in Homer a couple of times.
In more recent years "T" had shared some of my poetry with Captain Bruce and it was always responded to with a thumbs up according to "T"
If there is halibut fishing in Heaven then I hope he´s catching and releasing 300 lb barn doors.

Tears of Joy for Brother Bruce. He and I have been email pals for a long time. The last message I received from him was 3/31/23 he said:
'Blessings to you too, Annette, I hope to be in heaven before I'm 83!"

I so appreciated his daily emails of support and encouragement. I know he's with his Lord Jesus.

Love in Christ,

Bruce and I met 23 years ago though a Christian forum. Bruce and I became best friends and bible study partners. We have spent hundreds of hours on the phone and exchanged thousands of e-mails studying end-time bible prophecies.
Thank you Lord God for putting Bruce in my life.

You're greatest gift was sharing you're vast knowledge of Bible Scripture. It was because of our Bible studies together that I understood who Jesus Christ is.
