Bryan Cushing Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 13, 2025.
Bryan Cushing, 74, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, in Surprise, Arizona. Born on February 20, 1951, in Manchester, Connecticut, Bryan lived a life marked by service, dedication, and quiet strength.

Bryan proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 24 years, achieving the rank of E-7. His military career spanned from 1970 to 1994. He was stationed at several bases around the world, including McChord Air Force Base in Washington (four times), Danang Air Base in Vietnam, Yokota Air Base in Japan, Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama, Osan Air Base in South Korea (twice), and Kadena Air Base in Okinawa. His commitment to duty and country was unwavering throughout his distinguished military service.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, Bryan continued to serve others through a second career with the State of Washington that lasted two decades. His work ethic and sense of responsibility remained steadfast as he transitioned from military life to public service.

Bryan is survived by his beloved wife of 26+ years, Caroline Cushing; his son Scott Cushing and daughter-in-law Kim Cushing; and his cherished grandchildren Toby Cushing and Emma Cushing. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart: Linda Boozenny; Dallas and Barb Kasad; Jennifer and Clint Bennett; Rob Judkins; Jaret Rodney; Joshua and Lexie Rodney. His legacy continues through his great-nieces and great-nephew: Ryker Bennett, Fynnley Bennett, Zoey Bennett, and Evalina Kasad.

He was preceded in death by his father John Cushing; mother Marguerite Cushing; and sister Janet King.

Bryan found joy in both adventure and simplicity. He loved traveling-both domestically and internationally-and embraced every opportunity to explore new places. An avid runner for many years and hiker, he appreciated the outdoors as much as he did cheering from the stands at baseball, basketball, or football games. Perhaps most dear to him were the moments spent watching his grandchildren play soccer-quietly proud from the sidelines.

Those who knew Bryan remember him as a gentle and quiet man who deeply loved his family. His calm presence left a lasting impression on friends aross the country who will miss him dearly.

There will be no service, at his request. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the National Kidney Foundation.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire lives rooted in service, love, and quiet strength.
