Bryant Williams, MD Obituary
Dr. Bryant Bennett Williams, 93, of Stockton California, peacefully passed away at home on July 20, 2023. He was a beloved father, Pediatrician, cherished friend and faithful servant of God.
Dr. Williams was born on September 24, 1929 to Bryant Bennett Williams, Sr and Luella Smith Williams in San Antonio, Texas. He was very active in High School including being Senior Class president and co-captain of the football team. It was at this time he realized his true calling to be a pediatrician. He even quoted in his yearbook that was his future ambition.
After graduating from High School, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee to attend college at Fisk University. He then continued on to Meharry Medical School where he earned his Doctorate of Medicine. While attending Meharry he met his beloved wife, Janice Huffman who was attending college at Fisk at the same time. He moved to Oakland, CA to complete his residency at Highland Hospital so he could be closer to Janice who had previously moved to California to be with her sister after college. Bryant and Janice married in 1960 and decided to build their life in Stockton, California.
Dr. Williams started his medical practice in Stockton that would span over 50 years. During this time he received numerous accolades for his work in the community.
He was predeceased by his parents, and two siblings Rosalyn and Gwendolyn. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janice, his children, Bryant (Daughter-in-law Antoinette) Brett, Jonathan and Jana (Son-in-law Warren). Grandchildren; Ryan, Joseph, Ava and nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life on August 19 at 10:00 AM at Morris Chapel followed by a Repass at The Reserve at Spanos Park.

He was my pediatrician my mom told me I was getting my last rites from a priest and he came in and told my mom She isn't going anywhere. I'm now 61. He was also my daughter's pediatrician I had a terrible delivery he came in my room to ask how I was I was crying and told him I still haven't seen my baby!! He left my room and came back with my baby girl !!! I lived that man.

I was a young mother and Dr.Willams was there to guide me when I had any questions or concerns he was there to answer them, I was so thankful for him and his wife. My heart goes out to the family.

My condolences to the Williams family on such a tremendous loss. Dr. Williams was our family pediatrician and I remember going as a child for our check ups. We enjoyed seeing the fish tank and playing with the toys he had in the lobby. He was a sweet man and always made us feel at home when we were there. He was truly one of a kind. I first met this extraordinary man at St. Joes where I was employed. Our paths crossed many times from then to now and he was someone who I never forgot and he never forgot me. Oh how I wish we had many more doctors like him. I send my sympathy, love and I will pray for him daily. My prayers will also include his family.

Sadden to hear the passing of Dr. Williams. First met Dr. Williams when he was the Dr. of the Edison football team in 1965. Later he became my youngest daughters pediatrician. He was soft spoken and his compassion for his work stuck out. R.I.P Dr. Williams.

We were all so very saddened to hear of the passing . My deepest sympathy to the family. Dr. Williams cared for my since birth and my grandchildren. He had the biggest hands I ever saw in my life. He would lovingly hold my little preemie Ashley in the palm of his hand, which she could not fill. His laughter was contagious along with the sweetest smile ever. He always talked sports with me on every visit. Dr. Williams was quite knowledgeable of every sport, he loved boxing. He never let any of his patients down, he ran immediately to the hospital when my daughter had pneumonia.
Dr. Williams was the best, so many great memories of our many conversations. The thoughts of you, surely brings a smile to the faces of the many that knew and loved you.
Rest in peace Dr. Williams. What an incredible man!!

I am so sad to hear the passing of Dr. Williams. I thought about him often throughout the years. He was my children's pediatrician from birth through teenage years, one of a kind for sure. So compassionate, kind and funny. My children were never afraid to go see their Doctor. He always made them feel comfortable. He truly made a positive mark in our community, and made a positive impact on his patients, some of whom have become Doctors themselves because of Dr. Williams. He will truly be missed. While we grieve the passing of our beloved Dr. Williams (my pediatrician and then a doctor I loved to chat with when I worked in medical records at the hospital), the Angels in Heaven, I´m sure are celebrating with shouts of "He´s Here! Finding out about dr Williams passing just breaks me to pieces.. he was my childhood Dr. There will never be another like him... he was always so gentle and kind and always made me and my sisters so comfortable .. I absolutely loved him like a father! I couldn´t imagine having another doctor.. he became my kids pediatrician .. Dr Williams was my children´s doctor. I can´t say enough good things about him. He was so caring and patient. Years later I ran into him and he remembered me and asked about the kids- by name! RIP Dr Williams. Heaven has received a very special Angel.

To Mrs. Williams and the entire Williams family. There will be no other like Dr. Williams. I worked with him as his nurse in his office and a nurse at Dameron Hospital.. he gave everything to this community, his private practice and to the Edison High Football Team. I have had the pleasure of seeing him and the family during Christmas time´s when I would make him and the family homemade tamales, but this last particular Christmas, before I left to deliver them to his home, I told my husband I´ll drive myself so that I can spend some time talking to him and Mrs. Williams, I was there way over 2 hours and now I will have no regrets he was the best and I will miss him terribly.

He was husbands pediatrician, became our children's pediatrician. I say he was a friend just the way he made you feel, talked sports, worldly stuff ect. with us. He always made us understand whats going on with the kids (young parents) if we worried. He went above and beyond what most doctors would do. I can´t say enough about what a wonder man and doctor he was. When grandchildren were born we always talked about how we wish he was around. We were all blessed to have had him in our lives.

My deepest sympathies for his wife, family and friends. Dr. Williams was my daughter's pediatrician. We loved him and she would bring him a Snicker candy bar to each visit. Dr. Williams always take time to examine her dolls before he would start her examination. Deep gratitude and appreciation for the loving care he showed his patients.
