Bud Boyer Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Aug. 19 to Aug. 22, 2011.

BOYER, Bud On Thursday August 18th after an awesome kick at the can, Bud is now with the duffers and anglers he cherished, who went before him. He loved and laughed with a good woman, his wife Noreen, for 51 years. He will be missed and forever celebrated by his attractive and hilariously funny children, Fraser, Sarah (Rob) and Margie (Andy). Papa will be forever in the hearts of his grandchildren; Dallas, Josh, Kelsey, Zac, Christie, Courtney and Jonny - who eclipse their parents in beauty and brilliance. Bud lived his life according the the following credo: Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, golf club in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, hollering what a ride. Service to be held at St. Mary's Kerrisdale 2490 W. 37th Avenue, Vancouver Tuesday August 23rd at 2:30pm. In Bud's honour, festive summer attire. Please no black!

Only today did I learn of the passing of Bud Boyer. I was a young student at Equitable Securities, Bud was the Bond Desk guy, Jack Lawrence, Don McEwen, captains of industry to be, were at the firm in the 60's,I was always in awe of them.

They all went on to become legends, and I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. B, he called me Shagger, and being so young I never knew what it meant, till later, the girls in the office sighed as he walked by. Keith Bullen April 22nd,14

Noreen, Margie and family,
I just found out that Bud had passed away, and I suppose that this explains why he has been coming into my head so often lately! A true gentlemen, so funny and someone who really loved his family and translated that to me every time we met. I concur completely with the remarks in the obituary and will make every effort to have a martini in my hand as often as possible!

Dear Noreen and family
Belatedly, I understand Bud phoned and I regret I was out of the city and missed the opportunity of talking to him.
During the last fifty years, we lived in a era of ' emerging capital markets' that spawned many young companies, including Burns Fry . I will forever remember his support of my firm and the trust he had in our organization. The relationship was just great!
Importantly, this extended to our personal relationship and both of us cherished many good memories on the tennis courts, and many fishing trips. And yes, in between having a martini!
Noreen, thank you for sharing Bud with all of us. He was jovial, a great communicator and always truthful.

Dear Mrs. Boyer, Sarah, Fraser and Margie,
My heart goes out to all of you for your loss. The space must be large indeed that he has left behind because he was so kind, fun, loving and energetic. I remember all those years ago when we used to play at your house on Connaught Drive and your Dad was always so nice and seemed to be genuinely interested in us kids. He was just one of those 'special' Dads. Whenever I bumped into to him anywhere he made me feel like a million bucks with a big smile a warm embrace and a "How're ya doin' darlin'?" I will never forget him and I send my love to all of you during this time.

Bud was the big boss when I joined Burns Fry back in 1981, however he was always the gentleman who showed interest in ideas and provided wisdom from his experience. Dispensing that wisdom might have come with some choice words but it was always very welcome. Good bye Bud.

August 22, 2011

Bud was a classmate of my brother Bill Lenton in Miami MB. Bill passed away in 2004.
My sincere condolence to the Family.
Regards
Jim.

Dear Sarah, Fraser, Margie and Noreen,

After having just returned from holiday I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bud. As with many Bud was instrumental in helping me with my career and his children reflect what a kind and compassionate man he was. His Grandchildren are the legacy that will continue.

I think the obituary may have captured what Bud was really about perfectly!

My sincerest condolences, I will do my utmost to be at the service tomorrow.

I remember Bud from school days in Miami. I am younger than him, but I can remember him riding our cow around the pasture; dropping a bag of water on the Postmistress's head; and numerous other pranks all in good fun. I'm sure his family and close friends will miss him greatly.
My sicere condolences.

My condolences to Nora and family. Having met Bud when he interviewed me to be hired at Burns Fry in 1984, I soon learned this charming man had more stories about the investment industry than a Titleist golf ball factory! He was in fact, a never ending story just being Bud. The end of an era, and one that will be missed.

Bud was a funny, charming, generous gentleman.Everyone who knew him couldn't help but be charmed by his wonderful smile and kind demeanor. His deprecating humour never failed to cheer us up. After the humour, there was always an update on Josh of whom he was very proud. He'll be sorely missed.
