We lived four houses down the street, from where he grew up in Hayward, California. Mom always said his mother was a, "Really nice woman." Dad always pointed him out whenever he was on TV, as a player or a coach. Dad enjoyed seeing him do well.

It´s sad to hear about Buddy. I wore #3 for all my years in baseball and later softball (50 yrs). May all who knew and loved him find comfort.

As a fan I first saw Bud play in 1970. His feistiness, determination, his style of offense and defensive made me like him and I realized the importance of his position on the field. His overall demeanor as a player and person. I came to enjoy. It is nice to know he is now at peace, whole and playing the game he loved with his fellow teammates in heaven and reunited with his roomie Tom. Condolences to his family.

Always enjoyed watching Bud play, admired his scrappiness and execution, and appreciated his contributions/connection to the "Amazin' Miracle" and "Ya Gotta Believe" Met teams. I also invariably get a laugh, when I think of his Superman shirt story! It was only in recent years that I found out that Bud grew up in the southern part of the (SF) East Bay area, and that is a source of pride for us Bay Area folk.

Safe at home, Bud. You were great and popular baseball man, champion, and exemplar.

It's neat that Bud was a player for the New York Mets. They're my favorite baseball team. Don't forget - you'll meet him in Heaven too. He'll be saying "Hey! There you are!" I believe that everyone should have a friend like him to be around. They're the most important people in your life.
