He was my first piano teacher very very long ago, at the Jenkins Music(?) store when Ward Parkway was one of the finest malls around.

He had great patience and fortitude for a young learner, and I remember him fondly.

At that age, I wasn't old enough to know about jazz, and when I was in college saw him that he had a gig n Kansas City.

Blessings to his family, he was a treasure.

I had the great opportunity to work with Pete when I was at Jenkins Music / Schmitt Music Co. He was a wonderful technician and a super person.

I was the manager at the old Jenkins Music Co store at Ward Parkway in the late 60's. Pete taught piano there twice a week and we became good friends. I followed him for years wherever he was "gigging". He was a great talent and a great guy.
We will all miss him.

Pete and I were good friends in HS, church and the Navy. We double-dated many times in San Diego. He was a GREAT piano player and friend. I'm sorry we lost contact these past few years. He will be missed by all who knew him - REST IN PEACE!!!

We knew this fine musician when we were all in high school and church together. Even then, the talent flowed
from any performance. Wonder what ever
happened to the Wurlitzer Theatre organ
he bought and put in his "Moth's" dining room to reassemble.
Our deepest sympathy to Shirley and
sons Craig & Dale and his family Frank Eldon & Judson, Mary Helen, and Luanita & Dan.

Pete Eye gave me my first professional singing engagement in Kansas City...what serious work and what fun we had. Originally it was "The Pete Eye Trio" with Kay Ogle. But because of the play on words (ogle-eye) I changed my name to Kay Dennis.
The memories of those days are precious to me.
I will remember Pete Eye with fondness...He will be missed greatly.

As young teenagers,Pete and a few of us attended youth church together. That was the beginning of a long friendship. He was growing into a future piano artist. Shirley I am sure you will miss him terribly. I feel that I have lost a wonderful old friend.

Shirley, my mom and I will miss Pete so much. We are praying for you and are here for you!! God Bless you, love you,

I took piano lessons from Pete Eye when I was in junior high - I just retired! I can still remember him playing Take Five and thinking he was better than Brubeck.

Such a fantastic musician and human being. God's speed Pete. My condolences to the family.

I have known Pete since 1965, and we became closest of friends. We happened to be on the same naval base at the same time , however, we did not meet for another 13 years!! Pete was a great pianist, a great person and truly a great friend. We spent many a happy hour together and I will miss him profoundly. Jim Johnson, Abilene, KS.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Pete was a great musician and a nice man. His weekend gigs at the Carriage club taught me to appriciate Jazz. There will never be another like him. He had a great smile and I will remember him fondly.

I am so very sorry to hear about Pete's passing. I was very honored to have sung with him many times. He once told me that he hated playing for singers. I would go to hear him and he would always call me up to do several sets with him. I could never learn to read music but he knew my voice and keys. He always made me feel so very special. I have never found a piano player that was even close to him. My prayers go out to his family. He will be truly missed and will always be remembered as the very best.

Pete Eye & The Pete Eye Trio was our favorite place to be on any given Saturday Night. My Late Husband & I followed Pete from the Camera Club on 39 & Broadway through the Playboy Club at the top of Crown Center to the other night clubs throughout the greater K. C. Area. We totally enjoyed Pete's piano. I am sorry that he had to leave all of his fans, but he will find a lot of the fans waiting at Heavens gate to welcome him home.
