C.B. Burse Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 19, 2025.
C.B. "Budd" Burse, affectionately known as "Pawpaw" to his family, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, in Hoover, Alabama, at the age of 94.

Born on September 16, 1930, in Alpena, Michigan, Budd was the beloved son of Alta and Clare Benjamin Burse. His early years laid the foundation for a life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for family and community.

Budd proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the Korean War. Assigned to the Heavy Vehicle Transport Division, he carried out his duties with honor and commitment-qualities that would define him throughout his life.

Following his military service, Budd pursued higher education at the University of Alabama, where he studied Radio and Television Sales and Communication. This academic path led him into a successful career in advertising and sales at several radio stations in Birmingham. Later in life, Budd continued to serve others through his work with a security company assigned to the Lockerbie Gated Community in Mountain Brook.

Budd's devotion extended beyond his professional life. He was deeply involved in his church community throughout his lifetime. In later years, he became passionately engaged with religious education and events at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hoover. Even while facing physical challenges in assisted living, Budd remained committed to uplifting those around him-often sharing books about hope with fellow residents.

Family was at the heart of everything Budd did. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Burse; daughter Leisha Burse Boulware (Mark); son Jeff Burse(Becky); granddaughters Lindsey Boulware Hewlett (Shaffer) and Mallory Boulware Mosley (Peyton); and great-grandchildren Avery Rae Hewlett, Rosie Louise Hewlett, Barry Peyton Mosley, and Riley Thomas Mosley. His legacy lives on through each of them.

Budd had a special bond with animals and was known for his love of dogs and cats. Throughout his 94 years of life, photographs often captured him smiling alongside a beloved pet or family animal companion. He also shared memorable moments with his children through their mutual interest in Judo-a passion that led him to earn a black belt during their time together.

Budd's warmth, resilience, and unwavering kindness touched many lives. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

"The Family would like to personally Thank "Compassus Hospice" for their dedication, attention to details, and loving attention given to Budd during the last 3 weeks."

A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, August 24 at 4pm at Birmingham First Seventh Day Adventist Church

3520 Lorna Road, Birmingham, Al. 35216

A repast will follow the service.
