In memory of
Randy McCain
July 9, 2007
My condolences. My mom Nora Lee (Culbertson) McCain grew up across the street from Neal on Ockley Drive and they graduated the same year from Byrd. I heard many a tale of growing up in the neighborhood. I remember helping Mom stuff envelopes with campaign literature the first time Neal ran for judge.

My sincere condolences to the family of Judge Bolin for your loss. My prayers will be with you. My memories of him go back 25+ years to when he'd spend time at the lake not far from where I lived at that time (with my father). Judge Bolin was always super nice - very friendly - every time that I saw him. We - my Dad and me - had a lot of fun "racing" Marty in his and his brother's boats with our hydros. Marty, I know how you feel (my Dad died in March). Keep your chin up.

When I graduated from Law School in 1971 I had no idea how to practice law. The person who helped me the most was Judge Bolin. I spent many hours visiting with him that first year, and I'll never forget him and the help he gave me. As the years went by he became my friend. I will miss him.

I remember with great fondness my experience as a young police officer in Judge Bolin's courtroom. It was there that I was most relaxed and learned the most. Peace to the family of a great man.

I pause to remember Judge Bolin because I recall a very special and encouraging conversation we had when I was a very young, green lawyer. Thanks Judge.

My familys sincere condolences for the loss of this great man, Christian, Father, and a true American. My days go back to the early 60's a a new Detective and the help and guidance I received from this Asst. DA. Later as Judge Bolin and the many cases I was privilidged to testify in his courtroom. And to Robert and the many football games he and Kenny participated in together. Rest in Peace, Judge Bolin --

Although I have not seen Judge Bolin in many years, I share his family’s grief for his death. We are losing what Tom Brokaw named “The Greatest Generation” of Americans at the rate of one thousand per day and Judge and Mrs. Bolin define that term. They grew up in the Great Depression, served in World War II, successfully reared their children, and simply made their community a much better place. In that process, they enriched the lives of everyone around them, including neighbor children like me. Judge Bolin inspired many youth, including me, to pursue a career in the law. He was a quiet and impressive role model and I am grateful for the friendship his family provided mine.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Judge C. J. (Neal) Bolin, Jr. our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Judge Bolin. And to Judge Bolin it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II while serving in the U.S. Navy. Judge Bolin we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,452 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Judge Bolin’s family and loved ones.
